Jefffar wrote:21. How many of these questions can you answer without checking?

Me personally, maybe half. But that's a big maybe.

However, anyone sufficiently familiar with the books should be able to answer most of the questions with a quick look-up of the information. Some do require a bit more research though.

So how long are you giving for people to compete for this honour before you cough up the answer?

I was thinking about just PMing people who answer with the various answers (after I look them all up ;) ). That way the quiz isn't ruined for anyone else who wants to play.

1. What is the range of the martial art power Negative Chi Attacks?

40 feet, according to Erick Wujcik.

2. What is TMF and where can the rules be found?

Transient Maneuvering Factor; while it is mentioned in HU and N&S, the TMF rules are only found on page 6 of TMNT Guide to the Universe.

3. What does a vehicle stopper actually do?

Fires a projectile which uses a focused explosive blast to simulate the effect of colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

4. What combat move is missing from Jujutsu?

One-Finger Attack (Fingertip Attack?) without which Dim Mak cannot be performed.

5. Who can learn Ninjitsu and Thai Kick Boxing in the revised edition?

Nobody can, according to the rules.

6. If you get the same skill in two different skill programs, what do you do regarding the percentile bonus?

Use only the higher bonus.

7. What is the damage of a katana?

A regular quality katana inflicts 2D6 damage, a top quality (authentic) katana inflicts 3D6, and a katana that comes with a daisho set inflicts only 1D8+2 damage.

8. Where is the horsemanship skill found?

In N&S and Mystic China, only in the skills offered by Ch'a-Ch'uan and Liang Hsiung. For an actual description of the skill you must look in Rifts, PF, or some other Palladium game.

9. What limited abilities of another martial art power does Zanshin provide?

Chi Awareness.

10. How do you determine starting Chi?

Take your final P.E. score (after all bonuses have been added), add any Chi bonuses you have (from class, martial art forms, etc.) and then apply any Chi multipliers you have.

11. What martial art style(s) can the Demon Hunter OCC learn?

By the book, none. Demon Hunters don't take the time to learn a full martial art form and instead have a collection of bonuses and maneuvers equivalent to a hand to hand combat skill. However, it has been recommended by some that they be allowed to take Liang Hsiung Kung Fu.

12. When can a character with multiple martial art styles switch styles?

At the beginning of each melee round.

13. What are the blindness penalties in MC?

According to page 59 they are -3 to parry in close combat, -4 to dodge in close combat, -7 to dodge in long range combat, -4 to strike in close combat, -7 to strike with ranged attacks, -2 to pull punch, -2 to initiative, and -1 to roll with punch. According to page 157, the penalties are -10 to strike, parry, and dodge.

14. What does an Attack move do?

15. What materials can Celestial Calligraphy be inscribed on?

On paper, in the dirt, or on any hard surface (jade and stone preferred).

16. What are the differences between being infected with Negative Chi and being charged with Negative Chi?

Being infected with Negative Chi makes you vulnerable to disease, incapable of healing, and highly vulnerable to various Negative Chi Mastery Powers. Being charged with Negative Chi makes you incapable of healing, but also makes you immune to Negative Chi Attacks and Negative Chi Mastery Powers.

17. What are the cures for Negative Chi Infection?

Use the Mending Chi Kata, Discorporate Zenjorike, or the Cure Negative Chi Disease spell, or have someone else use Chi Healing, or Disperse Chi.

18. What is the sole requirement to become an Enlightened Immortal?

Permanently discorporate with the Zenjorike power of the same name.

Advanced Chi Mastery Powers are available to Bak Mei Kung Fu, Pao Chih, Shan Tung Kung Fu, Snake Style Kung Fu (starting at 3rd level), and Tien-Hsueh Touch Mastery (starting at 3rd level).

20. What happens to a character's Chi if he uses Body Chi to increase his P.E.?

His current Chi score is reduced by five for every point he adds to P.E.

Cherico's Bonus Question

There is no such thing in N&S as marshal arts, so the question is void. :P

I still think some of those useless Mudra for the Manipulation of Objects were intended to allow the use of Celestial Calligraphy carved in stone, jade, or the dirt. After all the Mudra for Handling of a Reliquary and the Mudra for the Handling of Weapons of Power didn't really have the supporting magic items which would have made them useful.

It still leaves the question of what to do with engraved or drawn-in-the-dirt celestial calligraphy (I really don't see the logic in wasting two scrolls with the spells he mentioned to activate a third). But after thinking about it and discussing it with my GM, we decided my Tao Shih will carry 192 proof alcohol everywhere, and for such occasions it would be splashed into the lines prior to dropping a match. Of course, the character would never dip into the Polish Spirits for any other reason...... :quiet:
