That's right, N&S resources. What other games, books, movies, ideas, webpages, what-have-you, do you use for your N&S games?
So far I use Sengoku, most of Palladium's games, BGC, Spycraft, Top Secret (but NOT the movie ), James Bond 007 RPG (not too mention the movies), D20 Modern, GURPS, Encyclopedias (five or six different ones), Janes', FAS website, Cyberpunk 2020, Shadowrun, Alternity, Star Wars (WEG and D20 versions), Oriental Adventures, Ultimate Martial Artist, Fists of Fuzion (or was it Fist of Fury...), just about any contemporary movie, anime, and several book series, various other reference books (I've got a list...somewhere, not counting the one on my website), Twilight 2000, Hackmaster (got some useful rules in it), the late Villainsupply.com website, a baby book with 35K+ names, Atlases, Almanacs, the CIA webiste, and probably a few other odds and ends that I've forgotten.
Admittedly, I'm running a fantasy campaign with NSS thrown into the mix, but for part of the campaign I'm planning on pulling heavily from two books by Barry Hughart (Bridge of Birds and The Story of the Stone). As prep for that, I'm hitting the internet hard for Chinese mythology and history (especially historical social structure). I'm also taking some ideas from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
For games in a contemporary setting, I base heavily off such works as the Tao of Nicholas Linnear, and films such as Fists of Fury and EnterThe Dragon, and anime such as Grappler Baki, and others were the main characters do not possess extraordinary levels of super human abilities.
If the game is to be totally realistic, and lack any sort of mystic or superhuman/supernatural elements, I would cite such works as Rising Sun, Best of The Best, Passenger 51, Only The Strong, and Kiss of The Dragon.
In a more super-heroic orientation, I use Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter Alpha, Killer Instinct, and Tekken as souces of ideas, as well as anime such as Fist of The Northstar, Ninja Scroll, Apocalypse Zero, and the Guyver. Films such as Drive, The One, Black Mask, and Storm Riders come into play as source material.
Source material from other games includes Mercenraies, Spies &Private Eyes, Danger International, and Justice INC., as well as Top Secret SI, Ninja Hero, GURPS Martial Arts and Martial Arts Adventures. To a lesser extent, Shadowrun (particularly Street Samurai stuff) CyberPunk (1st ed), Bushido, and 1ed AD&D Oriental Adventures stuff (Dragon Magazine, largely).
I use a wide variety of martial arts texts from Black Belt Magazine, to books from Shamballa Press as well as Ohara/Rainbow, and Unique/Curtis Wong Publications. The Nakayama Best Karate Series (Kodansha) is a good one as well.
For military and espionage (although these elements feature far less strongly in my campaign due to lack of player interest) I use actual manuals from the Army and Navy, Soldier of Fortune magazine, and books such as Very Special Intelligence, the James Bond Series, the Evan Tanner series by Lawrence Block, The Fifth Profession by David Morrell, and Mission MIA, and Centrifuge.
