Underwater Combat & Weapons

Has anyone created rules for underwater combat? Stuff like what weapons and moves work underwater, attacking SCUBA gear/air supply, and other things?

What about underwater weapons like spear guns, harpoon guns, ink grenades, torpedo guns, bangsticks, CO2 derringers, underwater crossbows, high pressure lances, pole spears, slurp/suction guns, nets, and anything else for that matter?

I wasn't, there are a few variety of guns made for use underwater, but I was looking for non-firearm weapons created for use underwater.

So just when are we going to see your version of Recon Modern Combat and your weapons/equipment/vehicles? (Probably around the same time we see mine, right? )

One of these days I should probably dig out my list of projects and their priorities...but I think I'd get lost trying to find them all.

I was working on a list of moves and what damage they did underwater. At one point I had several supplements from other companies that dealt with water-bound settings.

What supplements?
The Cyberpunk 4th Corporate War supplements, Gurps: Atlantis, something for Shadowrun, and both versions of Blue Planet.

Methinks that swords and bows and throwing weapons would be rather useless, spears and grappling and strangling much better.
Swords as thrusting weapons work great underwater. I'm not sure about bows though.

Any muscle powered attack would be less effective because:

1) Unless you are braced agaisnt something, and so is your target, you don't have as secure a base to push agaisnt or push your target agaisnt.

2) The water would resist the movement of your arm and your weapon, slowing the attack down and reducing some of its power.

Now some muscle based attacks would be less impeded than others, but they would all be impaired

Bullets underwater tend to suffer about 80% less effective range. Also there is a problem that the differences in pressure can cause some guns that are built close to tolerance to explode if fired underwater.

My big concern about the arrow is that many bows aren't waterproof.

Too bad Recon wasn't done in the "Palladium Megaversal Game System," it actually has some rules for underwater combat.

It's easily adaptable. every 5 point modifier in Recon is basically a 1 point modifier in Palladium

For skills, sure, what about weapon damages...

The weapons damages are allready in all the other books - and when not, 1D10 = 1D6 more or less.

I finally got a copy of Life On Atlantis for the Heavy Gear setting. You have to like the discount section of the FLGS.
