Best source for Mutant Animals

Turtles and all of it's supplements.

Mutant in the Yucutan (sp?) is awesome with the snakes. Transdimensional is cool with the dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. Still think it would have been great for an amoeba TONS of Bio-E points.

Depends on what you're looking for. Lone star is the best sourcebook for deliberately created mutant animals, it has info on all of the mutants the CS has created as well as info on the current state of the art in genetic engineering.

For everything else, pick up AtB 2ed and (if you can find it.) TMNT and it's supplements, particularly Mutants in orbit.

I think Lone Star is the best if your playing Rifts. It has plenty of mutant RCCs read to go, specifically designed for Rifts, and it has random mutation/experiment tables for aditioinal quirks.
To create your own mutants from scratch the original TMNT is better though.

Okay this Sort of relates...

I just found out a Nile croc (female) grows to be a healthy 30 ft. I then thought if you upgraded it How much damage could it do?

I mean serious upgrading...Cyber and genetic engineering...

But to the real question..

I see a bunch warm blooded beasts being used as mutant animals..Can Cold-blooded critters be mutant animals too?

I don't own Lone Star, so I don't know what that says. But if you use TMNT, then yes. There are a lot of cold-blooded mutant animals listed.

I thought Lone Star said something about the reptiles not being a viable option because they have there own agenda and could care less about humans.

I think that Lone Star and Bradford has steered away from Cold-Bloodeds is due to the unknown nature of the animals...mammals are predictable and are easier to read what they are going to do before they do it.

I mean the CS had enough trouble with the rats.

Oh and to the original topic...I would go with the TMNT books, but just remember that Rifts doesn't give a dodge bonus for spd like TMNT (something I abused grossly...love mutant ferrets +28 to dodge beyotch!)

another thing about the above posts...why all the Mutant in Orbits love?

I think one of the problems with reptilian mutants is keeping their body temperature correct. If they got to cold they would get too lethargic, it's possible that a suit of EBA may be able to help regulate it though.

Start with TMNT&OS and expand to other Turtles series/spinoff books from there. Nothin' quite like 'em!

Agreed. An average nile croc wont get above 5m (17f), even the biggest recorded Aussie saltwater croc was only 20.7 feet (6.3 m). Although there are reports of monsters over 7m.

Deinosuchus is another story. There are fossil specimens in the 30ft range. If you can do a dinosaur, I can't see why you can't mutate a prehistoric crocadilian or any other reptile.

Got of of Discovery channel...they said up to 30ft....I suspect not all reach it.
