What about Norway?

A couple of years ago I asked the same question.
Have there been any books or articles on Rifts Norway? What about the rest of Scandinavia?

As far as books I don't believe so other than a possible mention in the rmb. In the rifter no idea as I don't read the rifter.

I can only hope that it wouldn't follow the pattern of Rifts: England. Please don't bring back Beowulf as a D-Bee and Grendel as an alien intelligence.

Amen.
I would probably include the gods of Asgard in the development of Rifts: Scandanavia, but there is more to the area than just an MDC re-telling of mythology, just like there should have been more to Rifts England.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It's the country for me.

You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

The Camelot part of RIFTS England was essentially from the ATB book Mutants In Avalon, modified to a RIFTS setting. Unless there is an ATB Scandenavia book (which there isn't), we're probably safe :-)

I know how to get Rifts: Scandinavia out.
KS likes to produces stats for things in pictures.
We get someone to do a set of pictures with the Scandinavia Bikini Team in combat scenes, using different weapons and on vehicles. Suiting up into body armor.
Put them on his desk and wait 30 days.

The art work would be able sale the book only and might even get us two or three more World or Source books. :D

I think that Aftermath mentions that somewhere in Scandinavia they are of a) high tech and b) have had a good (successful?) shot at making orbit.

I have heard both what Comrade Corsarius and Ishtirru is saying.
As for what Gremlin70 said I know that the country formerly known as Denmark has joined the New German Republic.
Have anybody made any fan made stuff?
Has anybody heard any rumours about if Palladiumbooks is going to cover Scandinavia? Since it where left out of both the NGR book and the warlords of Russia book I dare to hope. After all if they did not want to create some campaign material about Scandinavia it would have been easy to add a paragraph or two in either of the beforementioned books.
I hope.

You know, I had always wondered where the creator of Oh My Goddess! got the names for the three principle goddesses. Now my question is, did the original Norse Norns look like Belldandy, Skuld, and Urd do in the anime?

Valhall could be it's own dimension book.
Since in the old religion the valkyries picked the warriors that were brave, skilled and enjoyed to fight you did not have to belive in the northen phaeton.
So I figure vallhall should be pretty full by now :-D Doubt that it would be room for it in Norway.

Another dimension could work...transit to and from via OEgasus or the Rainbow bridge.

The terrain should similar to viking homeland, but more primitive. less tech more warriors.

Posted: Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:50 pm
by Trencher
Problem is that I don't know how primitive the homeland is :-D
In the main book it say that Scandinavia is pretty hi-tech and in the NGR book it say it is just mud villages.

Then think WWII Russia/Eruope...Each area has it's own level of tech.

And High tech centers are far and few between. Mostly neare germany or other less "infested" areas.

Tech available should NGR and Vibro Weapons (Remeber No CS) and some magic. Gargyole and other TW Items made locally. Am I on the mark? near it?

Well Norway will be Hit Hard by the Great Cataclysm, with coastal cities geting wiped out. Oslo have the best chance of survivors.

Sweden and Finland will far a bit better.

It take Germany 100 years after the Cataclysm to from the NGR.
they would have help them people ther until the Started of ther War with the Gargoyles and Brodkil,s Empire.

Maybe any High tech can come from Alien or Parallel Earth,s humans whos space ship mayhave landed ther in the 6 years in between Triax & The NGR and the Rifts Aftermath books.

What do you think?

If I remember my Norse myth right the Great Tree Yggdrasil is linked or is the link to nine different worlds. But don't ask what they are. It's been too long ago.
