Anyone here a practitioner in real life?
It was always a favorite form in game, and I've recently picked up a little "Teach Yourself Tai Chi" book, teaching the basic breathing, positioning, and Short Yang form.
Was wondering if anyone else who does it could suggest any other books to look into.

I've studied one of the Yang short forms myself. I've always liked how it lives up to its name.

I took Yang style Tai Chi back in the early Ninties, but I dropped it in favor of getting back into more hard styles. I added Gracie Jujitsu to my class schedule in that period, and have never regretted it.
My sifu, who also taught Pa Kua and Hsing-I, told me that some people are just more oriented towards a more aggressive style. We remain friendly.

Well, I've been working on my JKD myself for years now, and Tai Chi is just something I've always been interested in, plus my girlfriend can do it, whereas a lot of more strenuous forms she can't.
The book is very well done though, goes through every posture, with what your hands, feel, hips, spine, and shoulders should be doing, and times it with inbreath/outbreath.
It's short Yang form, btw, I've got where I can do up to Rollback pretty smoothly, figure I'll keep adding a few postures each day til I get it all down and smooth.
I've always been a book learner type, though once I get the Yang form committed to memory, there is an older guy at a park near here, and I will go and start doing it with him, see if he will give me any tips on where my form is bad.

There are alot of good videos out there too. I recently picked up a couple based of the 24 forms and they are helpful. They take you step by step through the motions.
i like both the "hard" and "soft" forms. I have had Aikido and some of swordsmanship. I am taking a class this semester in Karate and hope to continue after the class is over. I have started the Taiji and i am in the process of teaching myself a little kung fu. The more exposure, the better off you are.
