Gizmoteer: Trap Construction Skill Program

Training in the design and application of traps and mines for capturing, killing, or repelling intruders and animals. Characters with this skill program can build fiendishly effective traps with readily available materials and simple tools, including shovels, knives, sticks, wire, and rope. Characters with this skill program may employ explosives in their traps with a -25% penalty to their B.G.C.S. roll, unless the Demolitions skill is also possessed, in which case a +10% bonus is applied instead. Simple snares, pits, and tripwires are easy for this character, and receive a +10% bonus to the B.G.C.S. roll. More advanced traps, including those involving electronic or mechanical devices use the standard B.G.C.S. roll.

Note: Existing examples of traps which can be made with this skill program may be found in Chaos Earth, the Rifts Game Master Guide, and various Rifts World Books.

SKILLS INCLUDED:
Basic Electronics (+10%)
Basic Mechanics (+10%)
Camouflage (+15%)
Detect Concealment (+10%)
Trap/Mine Detection (+20%)
W.P. Demon Snare

I'd probably throw in Carpentry (possibly), Locksmith (gotta be able to trap locks), Demolitions (for contemporary traps), Trap Construction, Mining (for earthworks & stone traps), and Underground Architecture (possibly).

Yeah, you would think the Trap Construction skill would be a given.

So, why W.P. Demon Snare?

You know, I keep asking myself the same thing... The more I look at it, the more I think the basic concept of the program -- i.e. duplicating the trap contruction skill with a gizmoteer program -- is fundamentally flawed, since the single skill all by itself would work better, and make more sense.

I'll do up a proper revision sooner or later...
