Scrupulous generally. Used to go for unprincipled, but grew out of it.

Depends on the theme of the game usually, but the nicest I have ever played is scrupulous and the most evil was Aberrant.

Seriously, the nicest character I ever play is Aberrant (there was an Unprincipled once, but that changed quick.)

I was just curious if I am the only one that tends to play evil characters.

Define "Evil". My first character (retired, but technically still alive to date) was a CS Military Specialist, and I made him Aberrant Evil, not to make him an actual evil character to but as a reflection to how the rest of the non-CS world would preceive him and his actions towards them. From a that perspective he was an evil guy with only the occasional traces of having a heart, but from the Coalition view point he was one hell of a guy doing what it took to defend Humanity form the hoards of filth that had over run the lands. So though he could have been called "Evil", at the same time he could have been called a hero and man of the people.

Beyond him I really can't say I've done too much Evil in this game. I did make a really fun one that I was looking forward to playing, but that game petered out on me so I never got to play him. He was a Diabolical alligned Psycho Stalker named Mr. Blackwood... CS black ops all the way. Oh well, there will come a time...

I would play Aberent and go with heavy emphisis on honur...sort of a ronin or Silver Samurai from marvel. Infact I've been thinking of an Evil Psi-Warrior lately.

Good is boring...RPing wise, to me anyway.

Good alignments only. Surrounded by people who love the 'ruthless badass walking the line between good and evil', somebody's gotta step up and be the real hero. I usually find the motivations behind playing evil characters sketchy with my players, anyway ("this way I can kill anyone I want!").

When GMing, obviously, you see more alignments being played by me, but I assume everyone is like that.

All I ever play is Principled. I tried an Aberrant character once and part way through the campain I ended up having my character realizing the wrong of his ways and becoming Scrupulous; That's about as low as I go.

I've tried on occasion, but I can't really get into playing evil characters. *Shrugs*

I do fine running evil characters as the GM, (as a matter of fact I've managed to scare my players a couple of times with the depths of evil I can come up with.) I just can't get into evil characters as PCs.
Personally, I think that we have a duty as role-players to try to anchor each other to reality a bit. To keep other gamers from being complete freaks and weirdos, or even psychopaths, if we can. Killer Cyborg

I play aberrant a lot, not that u could tell with most of my characters tho most think they are scrupulous. Deep down at the fundamental core most are willing to do things no good character would do. My best good guy, the one most loved in any game i played was friendly, generous, and out going. He like helping people and went out of his way to do it. And he was aberrant and fallowed all the tenants of that alignment. When he killed he lost no sleep over it. When he tortured a kidnapper to find were the rest were held up with the mayors child, He found it distasteful but he did it, to the best of his ability. He had wonderful conversation in game about right and wrong with the other players. He always discussed respectfully there beliefs, even when he adamantly disagreed. And in the end i (and all the players in the game) found him an asset to there party.

I've been known to play the ocassional diabolic character as an enforcer within the party. Makes for a very interesting party dynamic when you dont so much threaten the other characters as you make them painfully dangerous promises. Besides, all the best N&S tricks are only available to evil characters :)

I don't generally play evil characters. I usually pick either Scrupulous or Unprincipled.

However, I am currently playing an Aberrant evil elf Battle Magus. Sometimes it's good to step outside of your normal choices and keep things fresh.

My characters tend to either be selfish that once was good and slid downward or evil. I play men of arms/mercs heavily. And I honestly would consider someone who will kill anyone anywhere for a bit of cash to be selfish/evil. Also as said before its nice to be the character thats threats are taken seriously because he doesn't have a little thing like a conscience to stop him form carrying them out and would probably prefer to do more harm than good.

Who says you have to be evil to have your threats taken seriously? And who says that every threat has to involve someone's death?

All that's really required for threats to be taken seriously is common knowledge that the person making said threats will follow through on them regardless of what it may be.

I would take threats most seriously from someone of Principled or Aberrant alignment. Why? Because both alignments place a high value on one's word of honor, so when someone of either alignment looks you square in the eye and says "I swear I'll ________" you better believe they're going to hold themselves true to it.

Sure, it may be easier to be taken seriously if you're evil... but it's not always necessary.
