Would a Nano-virus infected person suffer the same effect as touching metal if using a metal rune weapon? In other words does metal rune weapons activate the nano-virus?

That's actually covered on page 13, Crossing Dimensions.

Rune weapons are not affected but some magic weapons are.

For the game or to be affected by the nano-virus? I don't think it's really too powerful to be affected. After all if the item is metal that is all the nano-virus is detecting. Now if Palladium prescribed to the High tech is the opposite of High Magic like Arcanum does then the Higher Magic of the Rune weapons would be interfering with the scanners of the Nanites. However since anyone in Rifts inside a PA can see a Rune weapon through their sensor instruments I'd have to disagree with that route of logic.

Credit the magic dead nature of the world with the immunity of Rune (and most true magic) items to the nano-plague. The magical aura surrounding such items is:
a) so completely beyond the programming of the nanites that they're ignored,
b) closely enough matches whatever means NEXUS has devised to shut down the plague in working bots that the plague is confused, or
c) something else only Carmen can explain.

I'm with Lynx on this one - I *might* rift a group out of Splicers but if anything gets rifted in, it won't be players with Rifts gear or HU powers. Natives have a lifelong fear of metal and its fatal touch so the only folks using rune weapons would be the ones rifted in with them and NEXUS gets any new bots/PA once the environmental seals are broken.

also granted this is only my personal preference but the only thing i would bring into the splicers world is take a few PAs or Robots from other books and give them to the machine as experimental protoypes........ keep the world as deadly to humans as it is sapose to be ...... give them the short end of the stick when it comes to new gear brought from other books where as the robots get newer toys all the time

Guess it's a good thing that many have voice commanded self destruct systems then.

There are rune weapons that aren't metal though. But it doesn't really matter because when they are brought into Splicers they should be reduced to doing SDC damage as should any magic. Since it's the PPE permiation of Rifts that allows supernatural creatures and mistic (including psionic) powers to do MD.
