I love being a Saint

Unread post by Prince Cherico »

Im playing a saint in a HU game and it rocks the house
I can cure any disease!
I can cure any poisin.
I can bring even the most wounded players back to full health.
I am support charater defined. Ive loaded up on medical skills
so im now useless in combat but I love being able to do dental
work one day and plastic surgery the next. Any body else like
playing as a Saint besides me?
Svartalf- if Cherico were a character created in a point game system, he'd have all his scores in geeky skills and his youtube and weird net stuff schticks all paid through a a Terminal Bad Luck (with more nasty GM intervention) disadvantage, and probably an Uncouth (can not have social skills) disad as well...
In an RPG with deadly situations that character would have had to be replaced a dozen times over[

For a Saint with a twist, you should consider this...

Splicers is my prefered PB setting, so yeah you could say I'm familiar with Saints.

Yea I really don't see it either. If's hes playing by the rules he cannot touch metal, so that would more than balance out his powers. Where is the munchkin in playing a Saint?

Muchkin dosn't mean most physically powerful.

Muchkin means being able to do whatever you want to do perfectly.

Well things have taken a turn for the worse for my saint.
A villan has captured a virus that will kill most life on earth.
The future verson of the villan has come back through time
to give us information so that we can stop him. our team is the
official team of the city we are basically super cops the regular
police are now trying to arrest us and are blaming us for the
murders said super villain has commited the other members of the
team are leaving to fight him by himself. My saint isnt going with them
why? The saint has the ability to cure any disease this added to the fact
that the super villan successfully killed the former team single handly has
led me to the conclusion that my charater would give himself over to the police. My charater is going to attempt to convince the police that hes
telling the truth if hes successfull then he will hopefully be able to get
back up for his teammates, and be given the oportunity to create a cure
for the virus. If he fails then were going to roleplay his adventures in prison. Wish me luck

I know you are joking.
But just to be clear, HE's playing a Saint( a splicers Charcter class) in an HU game NOT the Splicers world.

HE CAN touch metal.
But he sucks at anything beside's healing(so he can't fight!)....

Actually, even outside the Splicers setting, a Splicers character still cant touch metal without getting a reaction triggered by the nanites in their body. I don't have the book in front of me for a page ref but it's covered quite nicely in the section about taking charecters to/from the Splicers world.

Also just for the record, there's not a damned thing keeping a Saint from fighting in self defense, or even just for the sheer hell of it - they simply do so without benefit of training. Their "non-combatant" status in Splicers only applies to most Houses as long as the Saint doesn't enter combat; NEXUS has no problem at all with deliberately killing Saints, especially when given the chance to deprive humans of another Librarian or Technician.

NO it's not. IT's barely touched upon, not to mention that fact that their's no reason to assume he's from the Splicers world in the first place.

He's more likely to be playing it as a variation of the symbiote power class that the GM allowed/OK'd.

No one said LC's character couldn't enter a fight, just that he'd suck at it.
Including LC himself, and since this is HIS character, and that's the way he's choosing to play it, there's noting wrong with that.

We know this to be true due to the lack of nanites in the Deep Sea.

Look again. There is a (comparative) lack of robotic presence in the oceans because there just aren't any designed for water operations. Breached hulls tend to do nasty things when they allow water to reach electrical systems. You can also look at how underground robot patrols function to see just how vital NEXUS contact is to robotic function.

Specificly, check page 13 for characters rifted offworld after nanite exposure.

For a Saint to do its job, environmental armor is completely out of the question. For anyone native to the Splicers world escaping the nanoplague is impossible by any means short of dying.

Well it may be barely touched apon, but it is also quite clear. Splicer's character's that are off world are still subject to the nanites.

It is possible that he is playing a Heroes Unlimited Character designed to resemble, and have the same powers as a saint. But he didn't say that. He said he is playing a Saint. So all we can comment on is how a Saint would be played. That he posted this in the Splicers forum and said point blank that he is playing a Saint, are two very good reasons to assume that he is from the Splicers world. Perhaps he will clarify.

your correct with the symbiote thing in the game Im one of the weaker

Splicer's world is the only world the nanites turn things nasty on. Because of the lack of the NEXUS computer and it's nastyness and split personalities on other worlds, the nanites quit making nasty things in the prescence of mammals.

I hope this helps some on pg. 13 it says:

"Vice versa, Splicers characters brought to Rifts Earth (why no other Earths mentioned but I assume all others also) carry the plague inside of them, so any metal they handle or carry for more than a minute will see the nanobot plague invade it and elicit the same Hostile Response."

The only thing he can not do is spread the plague to other things since they can not self-replicate. It says how only things carried or worn that are metal makes the response occur. It says it will not be passed on to vehicles, power armor, etc.

That's what makes the character even more exotic since he has many limitations, anywhere metal is used like here and probably every place else, he has to be very careful.

Thanks for that, others have already said where to look, but maybe having it quoted as well will help end the debate. :ok:
