Swords, Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Directaction System. It's a robot, and supposedly the Pentagon
is building an army of these things.
In the far future it is hoped that the miniaturised robots will walk like humans, or hover like some birds. Others may look like insects.
Cool...
The Swords robots come in several versions, carrying either a machine gun, grenade launcher or a light anti-tank weapon.
Thought you might be interested, could make for a good scenario for your campaign...
Uncover the Robot Army!.
I was thinking of making a variant of the LC-12, where they have about 6 guys with terminals in the cabin who each control maybe a dozen or so of these on the battlefield. Give the LC-12 some external fuel tanks and double, or triple it's aloft time. Maybe, link a few of these to the operator of a Type 1 Robot Armor.
What do you guys think?

The EoH could even arm them with the Davy Crockett...provided they find/make some. A 51lb .01 kiloton warhead that you could fire from a recoilless rifle like setup...maybe put these on a variant of the Type 1 as well for some added firepower. Equivalent to about 10 tons of TNT...what's that in SDC?

The EoH already has those security robots. But they are easy to trick. So the concept of controllers in a LC-12 would be pretty sweet. Not to mention the Davy Crocket.
Maybe have the characters encounter the robots as is. Then have them encounter the robots when controlled and therefore smarter, faster, ect.

These are more or less drones...advanced R/C cars with guns & cameras attached to them...I think they would be alot cheaper to purchase than the EoH Type 3 AI Security Robot. Of course we could also link a dozen of these SWORD drones to a Type 3 to have as well.
So what kind of damage do you think that Davy Crocket would inflict (in SDC of course)?

The "Davy Crocket" link isn't working.
And why not have a legion of these drones out there? Save some lives. Use those hard-worn video-game reflexes.

Thats a good question. Does anyone out there know if there are stats for nukes in any palladium stuff?
Failing that. The Davy Crockets damage potential equals 10 tons of TNT. So whats the damage for a stick of dynamite. Now I know its not quite the same as TNT but its close enough for our purposes. Say that a stick weighs 1 pound. Again not probably true but close enough. So 2500 pounds in a ton, multiplied by ten tons equals 25000 pounds. Multiply the damage of a stick of dynamite by 25000 for the damage at ground zero. Then have the damage taper off as the blast radius increases. But that sounds like a lot of damage to me. But it is a nuke at ground zero. Doesn't that pretty much atomize stuff at ground zero? Or should it be more of a mediated thing by the GM. Being that a nuke frags everything. Should it just be up to the GM what survives it? So not really a quantification of damage but a resolution laid out by the GM?

Nope, I've seen it too... The term Sword even ended up in one of my pal's cyberpunk 2020 net guides.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem, they do have the Type 3 AI Security Robot.

According to HU2 a "long range missle: nuclear" does 1D4x100 (medium), 1D6x100 (heavy) or 2D4x100 (multi). But these are
clearly simple cut-and-pastes from rifts (or some MDC book. I don't use MDC at all except in the case of Nukes. So, i multiply the damage by 100 (a medium nuke does 1D4x10,000).

Also according to HU2, one stick of dynamite does 1D4x10 damage. So by your calculations: 1D4x250,000 (up to one million!)

I've done all this before, and IIRC explosive damage is measured in metric tons: 2205 lbs.

I acknowledge that my calaculations are out of wack. But are the damages for characters and character equipment only? By that I mean what are the SDC of buildings, skyscrapers, trees, and the natural environment? How do you represent the damage to the area? Should this just be mediated by the GM? If that damage is basically just described by the GM, should the GM decide the fate of characters equipment ect? Am I over thinking this?

Okay, bear with me on this, it's gonna get weird.
1 stick of dynamite = 1D4x10 damage.
The actual amount of explosive in the stick is 140 grams, the rest is just filler. The explosive force of dynamite is 6.276 MJ/kg. Therefore, 1 stick generates 0.88 MJ of energy.
The explosive force of TNT is 4.184 MJ/kg. Therefore, 1 pound generates 1.90 MJ of energy.
1.90 MJ is about 2.15 times greater than 0.88 MJ. I'm going to round that down to 2. Therefore, 1 pound of TNT = 2D4x10 damage.
The warhead's explosive force = 10 tons of TNT. 10 tons = 20,000 pounds.
Therefore, the warhead does 2D4 x 200,000 S.D.C. damage. Or, 2D4 x 2,000 M.D.
Good enough? Can everyone follow the math?
