Weapon questions

Unread post by Glistam »

If you have a martial arts form that doesn't allow weapon kata's, can you still get a WP with a weapon? How is combat handled with that weapon when you aren't allowed to use your combat form? Do you fight as if you had no HTH skill (one combat action per melee)? How does this affect ranged combat?

Yes. You can use a Skill Selection to take any W.P you normally could select. You just won't get any bonuses from your Martial Art applied to the WP as you would with a Weapon Kata.

I have always allowed the character to attack as often as they have attacks to do so. If they choose Tang Su, they would have 3 Attacks Per Melee, even if they were using their WP Chain, for example. But, they would have no bonus to Strike, Parry, Entangle, Disarm, or any other move from Tang Su.

I have never impacted Ranged or Modern Weapons combat. The character has as many actions/attacks as they get from HtH, and use the ranged weapon with whatever bonuses apply from WP. HtH and PP bonuses never apply to guns, unless you are a Hunter/Vigilante, Gunfighter/Slinger, etc, or unless your OCC otherwise states your PP applies, or you have Sharpshooting.

yes

you have the same number of attacks per melee, but you do not add in strike/parry/dodge/whatever bonuses. you use only the WP bonus and PP bonus if applicable. also the ONLY moves you can make with the weapon are the ones listed under the WP itself, genearlly strike and parry with some having throw and entangle. you can't use any special moves from your martial art like a power block/parry or anything unless you have the kata.

How does this affect ranged combat?

works exsactly teh same for anyone else who does or dosn't have a martial art. except for Traid assassin who does have the appropiate kata with pistols.
