Capoeira. which ones best.
Moderators: Immortals, Supreme Beings, Old Ones
My advice is to mix and match the features that you find to work best. (That's right folks, I'm not pimping my own version, I prefer to have multiple versions available because it increases the chance of selecting something worthwhile with a little work. That and non-Japanese styles aren't exactly my specialty. )

TheSmartass wrote:I know there have been a few different verisons of HTH for capoeira.
i was wondering which one was considered to be the closest to the real thing.
as a capoeira practicioner i can find something in each. but i wanted a little help deciding which one to use.
I'm surprised you haven't written your own.
I like to work with Kuserus' guidelines to create new styles. While I may not always like his presentations for every style on the PMAN, I do like the template for styles.

i have no idea about a template for HTH styls. and i admit. i'm still learning alot on how actions work in combat. i could use someone to sit down and explain it. but i'm making do.
Could you point me in the direction of this template?
Follow the links in Kuseru Satsujins' sig block.
Kuseru does a fantastic job of making the Palladium style martial arts organized.

I've been advised that I should make two distinct Capoeira flavors: one more down-to-Earth and business-like (perhaps similar to Tae Kwon Do), and one with the more acrobatic style that is more well-known.

TheSmartass wrote:Well that would be good cause there are two diffrent forms of capoeria in life.
The down to earth and dirty fighting style is called angola capoeira.
and the flashy acrobatic is called regional Capoeira.
That's what I was thinking of.
I couldn't recall the proper names off the top of my head.

Wesley Snipes makes it look pretty good in Passenger 57 and Rising Sun.
There is a decent fight sequence in The Mighty Quinn, with Denzel Washington.
There are more cinematic examples (Only The Strong), but these films have more "realistic" fight scenes.

I believe Mr. Snipes trains with the Angola style.
That would explain why his fights aren't more flashy (except for the Blade films, and Demolition Man).

Capoeira can also be seen (to a limited extent) in several episodes of Mortal Kombat: Conquest, most notably in episodes featuring Noob Saibot, and Quan Chi.
Although the series suffered the usual pitfalls of TV choreography and film quality, it did feature such notables as Percy "Spitfire" Brown, Chris Cassamassa, J.J. Perry, Mike Chat, and Dana Hee.

I think one of the guys in Gracies In Action does Capoeira. Capoeira isn't really that much of a fighting style, at least in the way it is trained.
Those kicks simpy are not going to work most of the time.
The closest martial art of a fighting capoeira would be MT.
Lots of in fighting and clinch fighting if I recall for actual fights.
