Note: Okay, some people may remember a while back when I posted a pile of my random campaign info and old notes into a setting description, well here's basically the same thing with some info rewrites, background changes, yadda yadda yadda. The way I'll write all this is a seperate post for each thing that was in the setting, it'll make it easier for rewrites/edits as new points come up and as more of my mental juices get flowing.

Bug Presence
Being in Bugland, USA, there is a strong Bug presence in the state. The territory they control is from the eastern seabord, along half the NH/MA border, to right outside the city limits of Concord. Inside these borders most of the bug presence is confined to the cities of Nashua, Manchester, Portsmouth, the Seabrook nuclear powerplant, and several of the larger sized towns. The rest of the area is made up of ghost towns and empty wilderness.

However, most, if not all the hardlines within these borders are operational and another larger problem. There are three major highways that connect the occupied territories in NH, with those in Maine and Massachussetts that make for rapid deployment of the bugged human troops. Route 3 goes straight through Nashua and connects with 93 in the North, and 95 in the South. 93 goes straight through Manchester and it keeps going south through Boston. 95 goes along the NH seacoast, around Boston, all the way through Providence RI, and so on.

Two more highways, while in MA, go straight through the state and connect to all the ones mentioned above. 495 runs throughout MA, and connects to every other major highway in the state. 1-90 runs from NY all the way past Boston, and connects to 95 and 495.

More to come.

Note: Using the PC's group, where all PCs were based off the players, and NPCs based off of friends/family/etc. The group which in the last thread with this info was known as "The Mad Dog Militia of Free New Hampshire", but they never actually decided upon a name for their group. Both playing and the original postings took place before I saw "Red Dawn", so with this reposting, the group shall be now known as "The Wolverines". :P

The Wolverines: The History of a Resistance Group in New Hampshire
Originally comprised of 3members, Steve H, Ryan Q, and Luke J, "The Wolverines" eventually swelled in size to become one of the largest Resistance Groups in New England.

At the time of the Meltdown, the 3 were Sophomores at Nashua Highschool, and were probably the least likely choices one would have to lead a future resistance movement. Having watched too many B movies involving Alien Invasions, Zombies, Giant Insects, and played waaay too many video games, one could see why they were the least likely choice. But then again, maybe that's prodded them forward in the first place.

Mid 2000-The 3 friends and their families packed up what they could, and headed west to the town of New Ipswich, to the gunclub known as Skat. At Skat, many of the members and their families could be found pooling together supplies and forming a new community which would eventually become known as FORT TOWN. The 3 make themselves useful and begin to train for their new roles.

Steve Hl-taking several shop classes the fall semester including a couple mechanical classes, he proved himself handy helping fix up cars and other machines around the new community. GREASEMONKEY

Ryan Q-His less than noble fascination with blood, guts, and how the human body works somehow landed him a gig as a medical assistant. SAWBONES.

Luke J-Between his packrat nature, affinity for guns, love of the outdoors, and anti-social behavior, it's quite easy to guess where he fits in.
SURVIVALIST.

2001-2004-Venturing further and further out of Fort Town, the trio gather supplies and information. They also bring whatever old friends they meet in other encampments back with them.

2005-The group ventures into Nashua to see how bad it is, and run into several bugs, and after a brief firefight, they book it. Unknowingly to them, an assassin bug hitch hikes in the car's battery, breaks loose and kills several people including some family members.

2006-The trio begin their guerilla war, first by randomly cutting down any power lines they find, then later by staging ambushes for the zombie repair crews. Later in the year, the scheme to retake their hometown hatches in their minds.

2007-After much recon around the town, they find that while there is a bug presence, most of it is limited to the area around Route3 and the NH/MA border, and that the rest of the place is an overgrown ghost town. Sneaking in under cover of darkness one night, they begin to dig a tunnel into the hill behind Luke's house.

2008-Having done much digging, the 3 have made a crude bunker reminiscent of something the Vietcong would have made. Making a few trips back to Fort Town, they began to stockpile the supplies they would need to fight the bugs. Game of Guntoting mice and cat begins.

2009-After several more successful ambushes on bugged troops, and returning to Fort Town with some Military hardware, several of their old highschool friends join up with them, including....

Scott-Egghead-Joined up to fiddle with any and all electronics the group comes across in the hopes that he can play video games without having to worry about something possessing his computer and/or trying to kill him.

Brannen-Greasemonkey-Before the Meltdown he was a huge computer geek, but after losing all his video game files, he has sworn off electronics in favor of fixing and modifying guns.

Steve M.-Exterminator-Large muscular guy that has played too much counter strike and Starcraft.

With their mildly increased numbers, the bunker increased not only in size, but quality as well, as they laid down cement, and reinforced the walls with materials they brought back with them from Fort Town. Their guerilla conflict intensified as they could strike more places at once, and go after larger targets. Hearing word of this, groups from several other communities began hitting towns and cities on the rims of bug territory in New Hampshire.

In the fall of that year, they organized their first major offensive against the bugs with the help of several other groups. Raiding a small silkworm implantation center in a mall, they not only killed a bunch of bugs, but rescued a substantial amount of people, including several long lost friends like....

J-Wacko-Scarred by his torture at the bugs' claws, he has flipped out and will stop at nothing to kill them all.

In the early winter, during a snowstorm on a trip to a community west of Fort Town, Ryan got lost and ended up in Killington VT. There he discovered the VIT, a group of scientists and ex-military who have been hiding up there doing experiments involving bugs. Exchanging information, the beginning of an alliance started to form.

Current Year:2010
January-Feb:Low bug activity, several attempts to restore hardlines foiled.

March-April: Increased Silkworm Zombie presence. Mid-sized scouting group stumbles around in the vacinity of Fort Town, but is quickly taken care of. A Radio station in Nashua is brought online to fill the airwaves with false information. Their final broadcast was interrupted by some people calling themselves "The Wolverines". The station blew up soon afterwards. More people join the fight, including.....

Erik-(Random OCC I found online, can't remember where to find it)-Erik has an unhealthy obsession with making explosives.

Early May: The bugs PO-ed by heavy activity in their backyards commence several flybys of the area and drop some ordnance around. The coregroup was on a return trip from Fort Town when they got a message from those in the bunker of what just happened, right when some aircraft passed over their heads. Radioing back to lay low, and not to use the radio anymore, the group gunned their vehicles northwards.

After leading the aircraft on a long chase, they were shot down somewhere west of Concord. Greeting the people that rescued them, they soon found those guns now turned on them. Their abductors were soon known to them as, "THE ARMY OF THE WOLF", a highly organized splatterpunk army with strange weaponry. Talking with another prisoner, they found out that the weapons came from Norad and were part of a botched military operation called "OPERATION BACKDOOR". The prisoner was a Norad Psychic part of that mission and explained that one of the Commanding Exterminators staged a mutiny, and that the others were either killed or taken prisoner. Among the other Norad prisoners was Luke's older brother Aug, a pilot.

Aug-Pilot-Survivor of Operation Cleansweep. Met up with several other survivors and headed to the midwest, and eventually ended up in Norad. Signed up for Operation Backdoor.

The chance to escape was soon found when the Leader of "The Army of the Wolf" brought many of the prisoners out to fight in a gladiatorial battle. Stealing several vehicles and a couple crates of random organitech gear, and fighting off "Wolfe" pursuit parties and Bug Search and Destroy groups, the group had to lay low. Aug and the other Norad escapees led the group to a secret military cache where they could hide out and bulk out on much needed equipment.

Late May: Sure that heat from both sides was off them, the group headed back to the bunker to get an update on the situation. They soon found out that they and several of the other nearby forces have taken noticeable losses from both the bugs and "The Wolfe". Friends from recently massacred groups have joined up during this time.

John M.-Pilot of a P-51 Mustang-John has watched Top Gun waaaay too many times and often times blares "Highway to the Dangerzone" as he flies missions.

John P.-Exterminator-Not much can be said about this fighting irishman.

Ben-Radio Broadcaster-A comedian complete with celebrity impersonations including Ah-nold.

June-Present Day:Rearm and Regroup. To combat both threats, "The Wolverines" have decided to call a conference with all other friendly, and neutral groups within the state to form "THE ARMIES OF FREE NEW HAMPSHIRE. Some outside groups will also be present at this conference.

Fighting Strength

Approximately 110 Members, not including named members.

20-30 can be found in/around the bunker in Nashua.
15-20 can be found back in Fort Town.
The rest can be found in groups of 5-10 in or around the various other communities or other areas of conflict.

Norad Detachment: There are a total of 13 soldiers from "Operation Backdoor" with the Wolverines. This includes Aug, another pilot, and 2 of the technicians.

Uniforms
-There is no official uniform.
-Crudely made insignias adorn vehicles and flags.

Armaments
-Everything from bows and arrows to military hardware. The few pieces of organitech that were swiped during the escape from "The Army of the Wolfe" are being sent to the "VIT" for study in the hopes of possible duplication or other breakthroughs.

Vehicles
6 technicals
4 trucks used for transporting of goods
5 Jeeps
1 RV modified as a mobile Radio Free America Broadcast unit. Also functions as a command post.
8 motorcycles
7 Canoes
5 Inflatable Rafts
12 bikes
6 Horses
1 P51 Mustang

Ranking and Location of Key Personel
Command Branch: The leadership still rests in the hands of the original trio of Steve, Ryan, and Luke. Steve and Ryan float back and forth between Fort Town and the bunker in Nashua on a semi regular basis, with Luke even less so.

Support: Brannen is in charge of supply acquisition and is in command of the "Burrow". He and Erik also spend much time reloading ammo and repairing guns. Scott sits around cobbling together random gadgets at the bunker in Nashua. Ben sticks to a route around the nearby communities, while John M. and his plane bunk out at a nearby town.

Combat Teams: Both Steve M. and J run small attack squads in Nashua. Steve M's group is usually found hiding in the hills around route 3 near the MA border, while J's is constantly going through the main part of the city causing whatever disturbances they can. John P. runs another squad to the north of Nashua.

Side Note:With the addition of Aug and the few other troops from the Norad Mission, there is some question to where they'll fit into the command structure.

Other Important Info
With the constant problem of trying to arm those being rescued, but not handing over essential arms, Brannen and a few members of the Fort Town community are working on an answer to this problem. With inspiration from the Liberator pistol that was churned out in WW2 to help the resistance there, they are cobbling together their own versions.

The most common version is a short single shot bolt action rifle. A small compartment hollowed out in the stock holds up to an extra 10 rounds. These guns are intended to be used long enough for the user to get himself a better weapon.

Joining Up
To join the Wolverines, one must make contact with one of the teams located in or around a community or area of conflict. Access to either the Bunker in Nashua, or Burrow is reserved for trusted members, friends and VIPs.

New members are first put through a short review of skills and abilities, and if found satisfactory are deployed to an available team. If found unsatisfactory, they go through a second evaluation of their skills for any aptitudes, given training in that area and then sent off to any teams.

Teams in Combat zones-Newcomers are usually given the job of hacking down hardlines while the others keep their eyes out for bugs. They also are stuck with a larger workload of menial labor such as gathering wood, digging holes, etc. This usually lasts for a few weeks and then the workload is more evenly dispersed.

Teams in Towns-The teams in towns usually end up mostly as support teams, and grant the town some added minor protection. They usually end up as nurses, tool hands, basic laborers, and whatever other assistance they can do for more experienced members.

In State
There are numerous small scale freedom fighter organizations, towns, and other encampments within the state, but these are the ones of note.

Fort Town
Established at a gunclub in the early days after the Meltdown, this community has several legs up over most others in the surrounding area. With a population of over 300, the townspeople must be spread out over the wide area of the property, and then some, otherwise they'd attract attention.

Housing
Many of the homes built in the early days of the community utilized empty tractor trailers that were then buried underground. The housing for newer arrivals usually consists of a VC style bunker or a small hut.

With the exception of the buildings already in place before the Meltdown, only a handful of scrutures have been made above ground. Besides a few log cabins scattered about the property, the rest are reserved for town functions.

The Clubhouse
The Clubhouse has been expanded in size, and is used as a gathering/meeting place, as well as a bar.

Wolverines' Burrow
Originally this log cabin was built in the early years after the Meltdown to house the displaced Javelles, it has become the HQ of the Wolverines. To fulfill its' new role, it has been expanded above and below ground with extra bed rooms, an armory, a muscle powered electric generator, storage rooms and a couple small workshops.

Surrounding the building is a short log wall topped with barbwire, with sandbagged entrances.

Barn/Garage
Another structure built in the early years is a large barn that was soon designated to become the communties' garage for fixing up vehicles, complete with a chain and pulley system for heavy lifting.

The Stills
The community has several stills used to create booze, as well as some to create ethanol fuel.

The Workshops
Scattered around in various hovels around the property are workshops that fulfill a variety of roles such as, reloading ammo, recycling old junk, making clothing and more.

More Info to come...

Concord
Its' location being right outside the bug's area of influence has left the city filled with only the dregs of Post-Meltdown Society.
More info to come....

The Army of the Wolfe
Army of splatterpunks backed by a group of Norad mutineers. Utilizing the advanced weapons and aircraft from "Operation Backdoor", they are carving out their own empire. They raid nearby communities for slaves, supplies, and to have a good time. They use slaves to build their fortresses or force them to fight in gladiatorial battles. They currently have no plans to deal with the bugs other than kill the ones that come near them.

Operation Backdoor
Norad Operation to set up a monitoring post in New England to relay bug movements and resistance info back via satellite. Using several aircraft modified with bugproof avionics, the plan was to fly up and around Canada into Northern New England. The force consisted of 3 squads of exterminators, a quartet of Norad psychics, the crew to work the monitoring equipment, and the pilots of the transport and combat aircrafts.
They were also instructed to help with any resistance forces if tactically feasible.

Out of State
These are a couple groups outside the state that have either some influence, or have made some substantial contact with those in NH.

VIT-Vermont Institute of Technology
Originally started by a group of MIT students and professors who were vacationing in Killington, VT at the time of The Meltdown. The students and professors made a trip back to the University to grab what stuff wasn't taken in the subsequent rioting and setup in the remote wilderness. After Operation Cleansweep, their numbers were soon bolstered by a large group of soldiers who were making their way to the Canadian border.

After many outtings to observe the bugs and the nature of their electronic powers, they have made a few breakthroughs in creating weaponry to combat them.

Stasis Field Generator Beam Gun: A large gun that is hooked up to a backpack powersource, the SFGB Gun is designed to emit a field that can hold a bug in place for either study, or easier termination.
Range:25ft
Weight:Backpack generator:35lbs Gun:5lbs
Payload: 5hours. It can be activated for 15minutes of continuous use before needing to cool down for 10 minutes.
Special: An increased use of energy allows the user to throw the bug. Shave off an extra 5minutes of juice for every bug tossed.
Note: It takes 3 SFGB guns to hold a lightning bug in place.

Stasis Field Generator Beam Canon: The SFGB Gun's bigger brother. The Canon must be mounted on either a vehicle or a heavy weapons' mount. Not only having longer range, a greater power payload, and a shorter cooldown period, this weapon can trap several bugs at a time.
Range: 80ft
Area Effect: 15ft.
Weight: Power Source:60lbs Canon:15lbs
Payload: 12hours. Can operate for 30min before needing a 5minute cooldown period.
Note: Can hold a total of 8 bugs, or 2 Lightning bugs.

Great Barrington
A town nestled in the Berkshires of Mass became a hub for many survivors fleeing NY state. They field a decently sized fighting force comprised mostly of militia and are lead by a contingent of National Guardsmen, and have access to artillery pieces, several troop transport helicopters, and light vehicles. They have recently acquired a damaged tank from a skirmish with bugged troops, and are in the process of repairing and modifying it for future combat against the bugs.

Adventures with the Peoples of Free New Hampshire
There are numerous adventures to be had here.

With the Wolverines
While strong, the Wolverines still need a lot of help to fight the bugs and free the numerous people held captive.

Defanging the Wolfe
Aug and the other Norad troopers are planning on sneaking back into Wolfe territory and reclaiming the assault aircraft and anything else they can get their hands on. Accompanying them will be 12 members of the Wolverines.

Escort Detail
Having rescued a couple Norad techs and reclaimed several pieces of tech from the "Army of the Wolfe", the idea is to get them to the VIT. Help is needed to escort them over to Killington over a couple hours of hopefully empty road.

Operation: Whitewash
Named for the childhood prank of shoving someone's face in the snow and dumping more down the back of their shirts, this operation is geared for the next winter. The plan is to assemble together as many winter vehicles as possible to mount a series of attacks on hardlines and other bugged positions while the roads are covered in snow and enemy movement is at a minimum. Snowmobiles, skis, sleds, modified trucks and anything else that can drive in the snow are in high demand.

Joint Operations

Project Homestead
With each success in rescuing captives lays another problem, where to put them. Fort Town and many of the other communities are now only opening their doors to people they know, leaving many without places to go. To deal with this problem, The Wolverines and interested parties in Fort Town sent search parties around to find a place to a suitable location to set them up at. What they found was a small abandoned farming community sitting in a prime location to store fuel and extra supplies. To prepare the town for future habitation they are sending in people to fix up the buildings, clear the fields of overgrowth, and whatever else needs to be done.

Conference for the Armies of Free New Hampshire
Groups from all across the state, as well as a few out of state ones are meeting at a location near the Vermont border to discuss the situation with both the bugs and The Army of the Wolfe. The Wolverines are planning on laying down an alliance during the conference.

more to come
