I believe that Splicers uses MDC for the same reason Robotech and Rifts do. The level of technology in Splicers is so advanced that hitting a host armor, or a robot with a baseball bat, or even a 20th century bullet just isn't going to do any damage.

Splicers would have worked much better as a SDC setting in my optinion.
Various levels of Natural AR for the Host Armors, Living Armors, and Biotic/War Mount flesh and Bone.
Everything inflict MD and hardly any SDC attacks is a step back too.
Maybe Splicers should have been DUAL stated like Skraypers was. I would have liked splicers much better if it was dual-stats.

The single biggest problem with SDC is the potential, no matter how small, for 1 shot kills. ANY AR can be overcome and if it is the squishy underneath is dead given the damages on the NEXUS weapons.
