These last two weeks have been brutal.
We’re working nearly around the clock to get The Rifter #35, the Palladium Summer Catalog, and Powers Unlimited 3 done, as well as a handful of reprint books, a couple of ads, make convention plans for Ubercon (NJ; October 20-22), and take care of business stuff.
The Rifter #35 went to the printer a couple days ago, though I only finished the cover this morning.
We were going to use an Apollo piece, but I was dying to do the cover, and with Wayne and Alex encouraging me to do so, stole a couple (very, very long) days to it. It was great to get back into painting again (watercolor), art is my first love. Of course, I haven’t done a painting in something like 15 years!!!! But I fell back into it faster than I thought. I hope you enjoy it. It’s no masterpiece, but it is funny, and in the words of Bill Bailey (with Alex, Hank, and Julius nodding in agreement), “It looks pretty darn good to me.” Actually, the entire Rifter #35 is pretty darn good. A fun issue to put together with 30+ pages of artwork. Ships the end of the month.
We also processed a dozen Christmas in July Grab Bag orders today, and expect to get to another couple dozen on Monday, and a dozen or so every day this week. We’ve sold something like 120 and expect to be able to make another 40-60 Grab Bags, in part, thanks to Mark Dudley who dropped off a bunch of his artwork (including some nice Splicers pieces) today. Thanks Mark.
Rifts® Madhaven didn’t come back from the printer today, but should ship on Monday. Madhaven has a near record number of pre-order and distributor sales are strong too, so we hope it meets with everyone’s expectations.
That’s it for now. I was up till 2:00 A.M. working on the watercolor for The Rifter #35, slept over at the office and got up early, so I’m bushed.
Keep those imaginations burning bright.
Sincerely,
Kevin “Blurry Eyed Painter” Siembieda
