Splicers & the Minion War

What is the Minion War? Hades and Dyval at war. One trying to conquer the other, and their battle spills across the Megaverse! Thus, each of the Hell books is suitable for ALL of Palladium’s settings from Rifts®, Phase World® and the Three Galaxies™ to the Palladium Fantasy RPG®, Heroes Unlimited™, Nightbane® and Beyond the Supernatural™! Minion War™ 3: Dimensional Outbreak™ takes place at and around Phase World®, Minion War™ 4 carries the adventure to the Heroes Unlimited™ setting, Minion War™ 5 goes to Rifts Earth, and Carl’s thinking about a possible sixth book in the series.

So...once Minion War hits the shelves, we need someone to at least do a Rifter article about how the Minion War spills over into Splicers...

Difficult call there....Splicers is so magic-antithetical that demons and devils woould find it darn near impossible to operate and would most likely be cut down in minutes as they are weakened by the local environment....and since most of their powers derive from being creatures fo magic, their demonic DNA would be of only limited usefulness to the Splicers to use for gene-stock.

You could go way out there and have a cult trying to "remove" the barrier to magic in the Splicers world.

Just cause a rifts catalcysm and wathc the result. Nothing like a mystical Apocalypse make your life worth of living. Not like that techno babble of the nanoplague.

Hmm, maybe already being done somewhere else...good call :ok:

I've never considered a cross over with Splicers only because I had similar thoughts to what was mentioned above. But hey, if someone gets a grand idea for a Rifter article tying Splicers and the Minion War together I'd love it.

What if it were possibly to effectively dimensionally isolate certain worlds, cutting them off from the rest of the Megaverse, then siphoning off PPE under certain circumstances...

Splicers is a very mean, ugly, and nasty world that had to have seen a MASSIVE PPE spike from all those dying people in the past...the continued loss of life energies from powerful engineeered lifeforms and the prevailing atmosphere of despair would be enough to keep a multitude of entities happily sated with anguish-energy..so where are they?
Just beyond the dimensional barrier that they've erected around the Splicer world, which they've effectively turned into a massive 'battery' with some truly powerful and arcane spells(its debateable if they can even repeat the process), and are tapping all the available PPE...effectively 'locking' it, before anybody on the planet becomes aware of the stuff and can utilize it.

THe entities behind this whole operation are currently keeping their prize creation a secret, only slowly tapping its energies for immediate use, while building up a massive reserve of PPE against some future project that will yield them(or so they hope) even greater rewards...such as wiping out the entire home dimension of their rivals, or triggering a multi-dimensional collapse/breaching of the defenses of certain astral/dimensional realms.

Of course, should their rivals learn of this great PPE 'well', it will trigger a potentially apocalyptic battle for control of the Splicer 'battery' and the secrets of its creation.....POssibly, such a battle may result in the Splicer tap going to the control of even more 'active' owners, or, worst case scenario...result in the backed-up PPE reserves(being held in a pocket dimensional 'holding tank') suddenly erupting free and possibly initiating a 'Rifts-style' event across the Splicer planet...or else possibly marking a turning point in the balance of power on the beleagured world.

Taalismn, that sounds like some sort of plot to bring back the old ones. That sort of power might be enough to release them! :?

Sounds like the beginnings of a Rifter submission :ok:

Very cool idea! I could figure some special OCC being able to tap in the PPE matrix , perpahs control agents to kepe an eye on the underlings and esure the constant massacre will continue(this could arise a serious quesiton about true reason of why the machine gone nuts, after all if you use an entire world as PPE battery you need a lot of death to fuel it! But you cannot do by yourself because ebing a supernatural creature you would be drained as well, you need an executioner not affected at all by the draining, like a robot...)

You can do it! I know you can!

Why use mystical entities or supernatural forces? Splicers has enough weird crap right at home to facilitate some kind of mess like knocking down PPE/dimensional barriers. Take the Librarians, for instance: large, pulsing brain monsters with lots of tenticals, alien intellect, and whatever the heck else.

I mean, the main book could only speculate what the Seedling colonies growing below ground are actually for. Simply human habitats growing at an increasing rate? Yeah right. :)

Yes, but how do you make possessing intangible creatures in Splicers?
Unless you deicde to give self awareness to Host Armors(hmmmmm Selfawareneesss- said in Homer Simpson tone).
What would you use, Protoplasm? Lvingi Clouds of Nanotech? Sentient Bio-energy?
Personally I found, as things are now, Splicer as underdeveloped product, that woudl have worked BETTER, as dimensional book. I'm sorry but is a truth we have to face. As we have ot face that if we are not going to see a sourcebook, even a slim one, in the arc of an year, we can declare SPlicer as dead as System Failure and Manhunter.
Sorry, I wish I am wrong. But consider how Ill fated are the palladium setting that got too isolated from the megaverse.

Here is an idea. Host Armor, and other pieces of Bio-Tech were developed from native, and alien plants and animals. What if Some of those base creatures were demons? Maybe something along the lines of Angar Robots, or whatever they are called from Rifts: Mercs? So that the vampire host armor drains more then just physical strength and beauty? Just a thought.

Listen is such behaviour that caused Splicer to be a bit(no more than a bit), left behind compared to other Palladium Books.
I hate saying this but is too Elitarian. Isolated formthe rest of the megaverse, is unlikely that a player of Rifts or HU is ever going to buy the book or play it(of course I Know there are some exception, but you what I mean). ANd this mark it is a biiig perhaps in future pubblishing.
I'm telling if Splcier wish to ahve a little hope of survival in future should develope a more strong link with the megaverse. I'm sorry but is the truth.
I personally Use Splicer more as sourcebook. And not always.
