I was thinking last night after reading all the good ideas people on here have for their various houses and came up with a draft format that some people may like:
INTRODUCTION: Background
GEOGRAPHY: Location,
AREA: Total, Land, Water
CLIMATE:
TERRAIN:
ELEVATION EXTREMES: Lowest and Highest Point
NATURAL RESOURCES:
LAND USE: Arable Land, Permanent Crops, Other
NATURAL HAZARDS:
PEOPLE: Population, Religion, Languages
LITERACY: Total Population, Male, Female
GOVERNMENT: House NAme, Local Name, conventional Name
DEPENDENCY STATUS:
GOVERNMENT TYPE:
CAPITAL: Name
HOLIDAYS:
LEGAL SYSTEM:
DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATION:
ECONOMY: Overview, Agriculture, Industry, Services, Imports, Exports
MILITARY: Military Branches, Manpower Available for Service
TRANSNATIONAL ISSUES: Disputes (Outside)
I know its not the be all end all but I believe that its a start, myself I have added more points to my house, Maps, History etc.. and it is so far nearly 15 pages long and I'm still going.
I'm thinking of calling my house the Never Ending Story...
Draft House Format

Interesting. I like the idea of a codified breakdown of houses, much the same way Traveller does for planets and star systems.
When you have your House finalized, please post it on the forum. Further down the page there is a great thread on various house designs and we can always use a fully developed house.

I agree...this is a useful template for House building...At least until somebody does a point-based House Creation Charts like for Rifts.

Than the Sage among his Books,
For all the Empires and Kingdoms,
The Armies and Works that you hold Dear,
Are to him but the Playthings of the Moment,
To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"
