Given that wolven are probably cute and cuddly looking with long tails and nice fur how do they get their horror factor?

Uhh, big tall hairy walking fur balls of sudden death if you cheese them off.

Slice and Dice time people :D

So really, its not the appearance of the wolven per say, but their reputation as being one deadly and dangerous foe if you cross them. I agree with that, suppose you never heard of wolven before, aside from shiny white teeth what is so scary about them that they need a horror factor of 12.

I played in a game where my human character fell in love with a wolfen female...she literally was "my b***h".

Think of it as this...

You meet a wolfen in a social situation, unless you're phobic, no check.

Encounter one suddenly in a non-hostile situation where you know about them, and they are know as friendly / allies / etc - again, unless you're phobic, no check.

One comes at you with apparently hostile intent, check.

You're a superstitious / primitive human, or someone who doesn't know about wolfen...DEMON!!! Check!

Easy way - if the GM thinks it is a situation where it should be checked, it should. :D

That would be like a Galactic version of the "Great Race."

As in Palladium Fantasy, they are giants... much taller than Human beings.

Giant Wolf people... that's worth a HF of 12 easily...

I thought the modern Wulfen was still a rather large humanoid being.

"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

HH....FIE

Nice Armanthus.
I remember that part well.
Very good book series.

My quote is from the Honor Harrington series. It's from the particular novel from the series "Flag in Exile!" And AWESOME SciFi series. It does have a lot of politics mixed into the series. And it is written along a similiar way that older Scifi novels are. I LOVE THOSE Novels! I've read every one of them so far! PM me if you want to know some of the exciting new things coming very soon!

As far as the topic, um there are no wolfen in the series! Sorry!

The series starts with "On Basilisk Station" and in paper back you can find it for 5$ U.S. It's not a long read, and you'll know whether you like it or not by the end.
The background is incredible.
The Ships, naval tactics, and technology is well thought out and very impressive.
The politics are WAY believeable, especially if you are familiar with british colonial rule and chinese communism...
And not to mention the main character, Honor Harrington, has a rich and full background, and, well just kicks major ass.

It's basically horatio hornblower in space, but with way more of an edge.

I give it :ok: :ok:

I've used some of the ideas in PW. Although I'd say PM for things I've done. I don't want to get anyone or myself in trouble with anyone.
