Fire/Water fusionists are pretty sweet. Thats pretty much my take. With the warlock spells they can take, I can't really think of a fantastic combo, but the flame coat is still one of the best magi armors for the cost.

Do Not Waste Your Time with Fusionists

Nope, no advice then.... ;)

LOL
Ask your GM if you can play all 4 elements and take HtH Martial Arts...

whatever. Fusionists are pretty sweet. I'd caution you against other people discouraging you from playing a class that you like. I've played one and they are rather fun.

Treat him like an HU/Super Hero. There powers are closer to that than a real mage. The Air/Earth is no slouch. PLENTY of tricks...like using chunks of earth lifted as flight platforms and simply crushing foes that can't be conventenally injured like Werebeasts.

New OCC in Rifts Ultimate Edition.
Based on that Rifts Phone Game "Promise of Power".

They really really suck IMO

So...having a warlock with two separate elements wasn't good enough?

Does the Fusionist have any particular thing that sets them apart from a Warlock?

they use powers more akin to heroes. Which means a lot more hands on combat ability. also they don't have an entity to deal with or higher powersto answer to save Mama Nature.

Yeah they Suck

seriously.
They use Opposite Elelements.

Fire/Water Fusions use Water for Fire Powers/effects.

They run around nekked or nearly so (because they love nature)

When i get home, i'll give the complete 411 on them.

They are very weak characters though.

so are operators, just have to have a good GM who allows you to pull elemental power 'stunts'. What else is in tha party Shades?

the team may have someone who can benifit from a certain element or power.

Flame Coat allows the Fusionist to have 25 M.D.C. per level. Combined with the Fire/Water protective field (which is a reflex, therefore instantaneous.) the Fusionist has more than enough M.D.C. With Firestorm, they can deal out damage too. Oh yeah, did I mention that Firestorm always hits? you know, it doesn't miss...you can't dodge it. So yeah, they're pretty awesome.

But perhaps Shades is looking for an interesting character concept rather than a vehicle for Hack 'n Slash?
