Open House excitement builds

We have a Palladium Crimson, a Rifts Gold (as in the “original” Rifts gold), a Heroes Unlimited Gold and other good stuff in the silent auction.

The T-shirts are in and look great.

Erick Wujcik is in town.

Met with my pal, Dennis, owner of the Wonder World Comic Shop a couple miles from the Palladium Offices, and he’ll be providing a discount coupon/flyer to people at the Open House to buy comics and stuff at his store at a discount.

Josh Hilden has been a workhorse doing all kinds of grunt work. Thanks Josh!

I approved the layout for John Zeleznik’s Art Book today (it is drop dead gorgeous – he should have a mockup at the Open House) and wrote my foreword for the book (almost forgot).

Wayne Smith is busy with other aspects of the event.

Alex Marciniszyn is pricing and answering telephones.

Meanwhile, I’ve been fielding calls all morning: The hotel (we’ll have one Presidential Suite to use as a game room available Thursday, and two on Friday and Saturday!). John Zeleznik, Erick Wujcik, Tony Falzon, the printer, a magazine, a half dozen fans asking if you can pay at the door for admission (YES!), an old buddy who might be able to get us a pair of free Red Wing Playoff tickets, and the comic book shop all called before noon today!

I have Josh Hilden and Joe Bergmans (he arrived today from California) busy stuffing plastic bags with envelopes and Greeting Cards right now (the cards look awesome!). Earlier I had Josh scrubbing doors and sweeping away cobwebs while Joe and I ran out to the Detroit Popcorn Company to get supplies and containers.

I still have toys, art and auction itemsf to price and put out before the event, as well as signage, and I still have to write the stats for the characters in my game! I’m recreating my old, infamous Lord Desilca tournament from the days of the Detroit Gaming Center. A few months ago I found my original notes and stats, and decided to run it as my Open House event (2-3 times). It’s fun and always a crowd pleaser, and nostalgic for me. Of course, when I need those notes I CAN’T FIND THEM! So now I have to recreate them before Friday night!!!! Arrgh. Gurggle.

Lots and lots going on. In the words of Josh Hilden, “Wow, you guys are busy all the time. I mean really, really busy all the time!”

What’s that, Josh? I didn’t hear you. I’m really really busy! :)

Hmm, Josh says when he first arrived he was a bit nervous. Now, after only three days of working with us, he says the mystique is GONE. Gosh, maybe I had him scrub too many walls, floors and toilets. Oh well, one more guy who knows Palladium’s deep dark secret: We’re just goofy fan boys who cuss and clown around and work hard at what we do. Okay, I’m the only one who cusses and swears . . . (Oh no, my image is ruined forever).

I need MORE TIME. GOING CRAZY. TOO MUCH . . . TOO MUCH TO DO.

YET I CAN HARDLY WAIT TILL TOMORROW when John Zeleznik, Scott Johnson, Ramon Perez, Kent Burles, Apollo Okamura, Nick Bradshaw, Carl Gleba, Jason Richards, Brandon, Taylor, Jeff, Jason and a host of other freelancers (20-30 of ‘em) arrive in town. And then VIP Friday and then a weekend of talking and gaming and fun.

Whew. I’m tired just thinking about it.

Hope to see a lot of smiling faces over the weekend. Come on down and join the madness.

Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
