The Rogue Houses

Unread post by Warmaster40k »

Here is were I'll post my material on the Rogue Houses.

The Rogue Houses

They are what happens when Librarians go megalo. They are a very real danger to the resistance. The rogue houses are what happens when ethics are abandoned in the pursuit of newer Bio-tech. So questions must be asked first of all were are the Rogue Houses. Like how the resistance sought shelter below the earth so did the Rogue Houses go deeper in to the earth. What the Rogue Houses lack in numbers they make up in the fact that they do not limit them selves to what the Warlords say is with in reason. They pursue all paths in Bio-Tech; human augmentation, warmount development, Viral Transformations, and more. The only force that leads the Rogue Houses for there are no Warlords ( they were disposed of most of which turned in to monstrous biotics) are the Librarians and their legion of Scarecrows that are altered through minor biotic transformations (rewards for great service) and the quest for perfection of form and essence of life. Their army Biotics which can only be said of is that the line between Biotic, host armor and warmount is at best blurred.

One of the ways they invade havens is through the creation of what can only be described as an infection. This Virus was called Proto-Biotic Virus or Infection is more accurately described as a parasitic bacteria. The virus when contact is made causes fever as it makes its way through the body then lesion and sores appear and seep a fluid that collects into scab like growths that harden in to a chitinous material, then as it makes its way to the adrenal gland it mutates it causing extraordinary amounts of adrenaline in to the body and gives them splicer strength. Then as the final stage sets in gap and holes form in the hosts genetic structure making them open to fast and dirty Biotic conversion. Once the new material is injected through a needle (the solution is a mixture of enzymes and genetic material and a controller paracite ) the person infected goes in to seizures and the sores and lesions open up covering the person in a cocoon then 36 hours later the Biotic comes out. During the hours before the new genetic material is introduced the individual is described as aggressive and psychotically violent.

here for you guys I'll give you stats for Proto-Biotic Virus.

PBV or Infection
phases are listed in how long the phase lasts
Saving throw for Resist: 18
First phase:(hour 6) Fever, nausea
Second phase:(hour 2) increased aggressiveness and paranoia, Lesions begin to appear
Third Phase: (hour8) violent psychosis, yellow seepage hardens into chitinous plating giving viral host 2d8+20 MDC infection mutates adrenal gland and begins to alter mussel structure turning physical strength into splicer strength.
Fourth Phase: Persons skin turns grayish green, this lets Rouge House forces know subject is ready with 1d4*10 BIO-E.

Sadly this only the beginning as The Great Houses make standardized forms of Warmounts, so do The Rogue Houses make strange and terrifying forms of seemingly standardized Biotic templates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is all I care to put down tonite as its late (its 2am right now). Later you can look forward to the Infector Biotic of the Rogue House forces.

I like it.

I'm halfway through writing up something that's sorta close to your idea, actually. Different execution and purpose, but similar enough results, I think. I'll finish up mine today, probably.

I'd say 'Rogue House' covers a variety of approaches...one of them being the viral attack....But the idea of Biotics that resemble the various grades of assault cyborgs familiar to the Warlords of Rifts Russia is an intriguing one.
The Rogue Houses are the loose cannons(even more so than ronin dreadguards) and wild cards of the Splicers....as much of a danger as they may pose to fellow humans, they're an even bigger danger to the Machine, because they epitomize the unpredictable element of human nature...Being modelled after human rationality(even criminally psychotic rationality) NEXUS has problems keeping up with the twisted 'human element' the Rogues represent...
It's for that reason that while the Warlords officially abhor and hunt the Rogue Houses, they also carefully keep an eye on what they're doing against the Machine...Like the Allies descending on post-War German technical achievements, Houses are quick to scavenge the remains of Rogue Houses that have fallen, hoping to acquire their bio-tech. Then, later, discretely adapt elements of it into their own arsenals...

And the Turning of a Page"

You could always open it up to discourse here on the forums under it's own thread. Maybe that would help shake loose the final designs for your own purposes. Then if your were going to submit it to the Rifter. You just edit your post where the real meat of the article will be in. Just a thought.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."
