Any rules for reversing a hold?
I could have sworn N&S had rules for reversing a hold, but after scanning through the book, I couldn't find them. I'm certain I remember reading them at some point, but can't figure out what book they were in, or what the actual rules were. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

A quick scan of the N&S book and Rifter #3 reveals no rules for reversing Holds, just escaping them.

I would say it's a matter of breaking a hold, like normal, then using your attack to create your own hold.

Resonantg wrote:That does and doesn't work I guess. Most cases, I think you'd be right, you have to break the hold and then apply your own. But there are martial arts and ways of reversing holds against the holder, or into another move like a throw. I keep remembering a basic throw I was taught in Judo to reverse a torso hold/bearhug into a pretty effective throw that either has them letting go or me falling on top of them. Oh well, maybe it's in need of house ruling for certain MAs, and the rest is "break/reapply".
You could always add a new Martial Arts Power.
Martial Arts Technique
Hold Reversal: This technique allows you to reverse Holds and Locks that are applied to you. If you successfully escape a Hold or Lock, you automatically apply the same Hold or Lock to your opponent.

Not a bad option. However, for a simple solution, you could go with a combination manuever (combination break/hold), or put the ability to reverse a hold to being similar to an automatic lock/throw... you break the hold, then automatically swing them into a throw or a lock or a hold.

I've got the rules for a Counter Throw around somewhere. Shouldn't be too hard to adapt into a Counter Hold.
