Okies I read both spells and I think you are overlooking something, Semi.
The AoE for the rifle is 30 feet. Using the Shockwave spell, that is the equivalent to 3rd level, making the damage 3D4 MD.
Too low you say? I'd tend to agree but...
The rifle does double damage to the primary target (6D4, or 4D6 which is easier to roll) and damage is inflicted to everything in the 30ft radius (3D4 to them) and all those lovely knockdown effects.
Seems to me this is a nice little weapon, despite 5 shots per clip... wish it listed how much PPE it needs to recharge...
Thoughts?

What about the side-effects, though? I'm inclined not to include them.

I guess its up to you if you want to discount the spell side effects (I assume you mean all the knockdown stuff, I only skimmed it). I would leave it in though, as that seems to me what is intended by the author. Also discounting the side effects would "nerf" the weapon, IMHO. Again, I think its pretty nice as written, but your game, as always may vary

AoE de Nani? What is AoE?
You know if you write the subject of the shorthand out once at the begining of the post, then you can sorten it after that.
If you mean Area of Effect...
As for the effects....you need to roll what level the spell acts at the time it created. This level does not change, ever. (Unless the GM wants the effects to grow with the char as it grows in exp.)

Gravitus Everlast wrote:As it was explained to me, the PPE cost to refill any TW weapon is the acctual cost of the spell used times the amount of charges... but I could be wrong.
Sometimes that is the case, yes.
Although somtimes its a different amount when used in a TW weapon or device (which can combine several spells). O well, I'll probably just break this device down acording to the TW creation rules in RUE to get an idea of how much PPE it should take to reload. Or just house rule an arbitrarty amount.
