Another week from Hell . . .

Another week from Hell . . .

This past week has been living hell. The worst in a long time. Our schedule was wrecked and the week left all of us exhausted and frustrated. A real nightmare.

There just seemed to be one unexpected problem to deal with after another. I figure I jinxed us by joking around that Friday the 13th was a good day for us. This was the Fates' way of saying, "Okay buddy, here's what you get for tempting fate."

The big part of it had to do with the Rifts® and the Megaverse®, the Art of John Zeleznik. All I can say at this point is, thank goodness we went through an American company that brokers jobs all over the world and they have to deal with problems overseas. I’m still too exasperated to talk about it, and the ultimate resolve is yet to be determined. I only pray it will all work out for the best.

Good news concerning Rifts® and the Megaverse®

The regular edition of the art book shipped out Thursday to distributors and folks who ordered it online or via the mail. Distributor sales weren’t too bad, and we suspect reorders will be quick to follow. We are still waiting for orders from the book trade which we hope will be sweet.

The highlight of my week was signing, numbering, and gluing in the fabulous Johnny Z arts sketches, and bagging the finished book and handing them over to be processed for shipping. Approximately 60 of the 90 or so advanced orders for the hardcover Masterworks Edition shipped out Friday. All were double boxed and US books were sent via UPS, while overseas orders (Canada, Norway, UK and Australia – it was nice to see several Brits and Aussies order, in addition to our usual strong contingent of Canadians) were sent Priority Mail. That means EVERYBODY should get their Masterwork edition by next week sometime. Um, that’s everybody but you guys and gals who insist on ordering the regular edition via “Media Mail” which can take up to three weeks (though most should arrive in 5-14 days). The rest will ship Monday.

We had a couple of printer reps visit this week and both agreed they have NEVER heard of ANY PUBLISHER including the actual art sketches used in the creation of the artwork that appears in that very art book. Both thought it was super-cool and super-collectible. Yet another FIRST by Palladium Books. Awesome.

Let me remind you that there are only 199 of these books with Zeleznik artwork. Roughly HALF are already gone and I haven’t seen the names of at least a couple dozen regular collectors in the orders yet. If you are planning to purchase this gorgeous and historic collector’s item, I would NOT wait too long to do so.

I am working through the weekend to get Hades finished. The fact that it isn’t finished is another personal point of aggravation for me. At least the book is nothing short of spectacular. And I mean that.

Anyway, I better get back to work. Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
