About the big announcement that didn’t happen at Gen Con

We had hoped to make an “official” announcement at Gen Con about a new licensing deal, but that didn’t happen.

Licenses can be a little funny. It’s a cooperative effort between the licensee (Palladium) and the Licensor (the company that owns the property). Ultimately, you want to work with the Licensor to promote and sell their I.P. and your licensed products to the best of your ability.

As we come near the finalization of a licensing deal, things start to get more formal. Approvals by the Licensor are required for just about everything, including advertising and press releases. We thought we would have a signed contract by Gen Con Indy and make an “official” and “joint” statement announcing the license. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

I imagine most of you have already guessed I’m talking about Robotech®. It is a deal we’ve been working on for a year now. Palladium and Harmony Gold have reached verbal agreement on ALL terms, the money is sitting in the bank, other details have been attended to, and we are waiting on the final agreement which should arrive any day now! I just wanted to let you ardent fans of Palladium Books and Robotech® know what’s going on.

I can’t tell you how excited we are to be getting the Robotech® license again. We had a blast with it for 15 years after the TV show launched and we’re thrilled to be involved with Robotech’s return.

All of this is “unofficial.” It’s not a done deal until we get the contract and the fat Publisher signs the contract and cuts a check! (Hey, who's calling me fat!?!) We will make an official announcement as soon as the paperwork is signed, sealed and delivered. Keep the faith, keep your eyes peeled, and wish us your best. :-)

In the meanwhile, please start thinking about what you’d like to see in these new books, let us know about corrections and additions you believe are necessary, and we will take them to heart. We’ve already been gathering a bunch of fan input and suggestions, but the more the merrier.

That’s it for this Murmur.

Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
Publisher, Writer, Artist and Robotech Fan!
