Double-bladed sword...

Here's my take on them:
They should get their own WP, or use the sword WP without any throwing (which is a pretty silly add-on anyway... having studied both kenjutsu-do and sabre fencing for a long time, I can tell you throwing just doesn't happen, in spite of the tales of some duels I've heard about in england in the 1700's); fencing wouldn't help with bonuses or damage, the weapon and its style of use are too different. WP Paired would be extremely useful with one, however.
So... comments?

Its easy to lump all swords into WP sword, because otherwise, there would be a WP for each type of sword. WP Rapier, Longsword, Bastard Sword, Scimitar, Claymore, ect. And you would need to do the same for Knives, Targeting, Axes, Polearms, Staff sizes, ect. You could make an entire book that is just dedicated to the different ancient WP's.

I think the thing we're all failing to remember here is that double-bladed swords are rather uncommon in the real world for the simple reason that they're stupid. So throw 'em in WP sword, but with penalties to reflect how silly and impractical they are.

Yea, I can't really think for the life of me where I might have seen a double bladed sword, not even in manga do you see those (at least not int he ones I read). Unless of course, the OP means something more like a swallow, or a staff with a blade at each end. Then of course, it wouldnt be WP Sword then.

I was assuming he menat the handle with a sword sticking out of each end concept, like Darth Maul's lightsabre, or... was it Thundercats where the baddy had a totally badass sword that was like, a pair of scimitars strapped together at the hilt?

That make me think. Would a double sword be more like a spear with blades in both sides? Then, It would be WP Sword but WP Spear.

Not WP Spear, but WP Pole Arm

when i give out unique or custom weapons in my pf game i usually give them a unique/custom wp to go with it. i see it as the character developing a 'form' on their own due to the lack of training for the use of one-of-a-kind weapons (or weapons that dont fit into another wp at least)...

I stand corrected, I saw my first sword that had 2 blades coming from the same end, one blade right next to the other today in the manga, Rurouni Kenshin, and it was defeated in one attack. A very easy attack too. S, for dual bladed weapons, I would have to say it's gotta be like the weapon on Chrono Cross... a pole arm/spear with a blade of some sort at each end.
(I am just glad noone has brought up sword-chucks yet)

Easy answer to this is....if you want some special WP's for your custom weapons then just give the character Weapon Specialization: Double-bladed Long Sword after he gains a moderate amount of experience using the weapon, that way if he picks up any other sword like weapon he only gains minor bonuses.
Rifter 30 I think is the one with the Weapon Specialization and Mastery optional rules in it, but its fairly unbalancing (the one with the Mystic Knight on the cover).

So your referring to a Forked Bladed Sword? or is it a Double-Bladed Sword.
Forked being a sword that is double-edged and split down the middle leaving a gap between each edge and a Double-Bladed Sword being a sword that has a blade on each side of an extended hilt/handle.
The pole arm that your describing is just a Double-Bladed Staff and a forked spear is just a Trident

Well...
I'd prolly say that a player had to have W.P. Pole-arm, Sword, and paired to use it (using only the bonuses from W.P. Sword).
