Or is it to include things like TK where you are affecting the physical world? What about Psi-Sword?
Psi-Sword is out sinse it needs a touch. TK is fine though.
Also....
It says you are immune to ALL physical attacks. But it also says you are affected fully by magic/ psionics. So am I immune to physical magic/ psi attacks like Falming swords, Fireballs, electrical/ fire attacks from a Zapper/ Burster? Or do these MD attacks dust me fast?
Book quotes are best.
Thanks
Magic attacks arn't considered physical, even if they take a physical form. Yes, they would fry you and do it quick.
and there are no book citations for any of your questions, anywhere.

YOu are not immune to falming swords, fireballs, electrical/fire attacks from Zapper/Burster. Because first of all they are not physical they are energy, but more important they are are magic. Though I'm petty sure the author thinks you are immune to all tech non-magical weapons instead of physical weapons?. At least that is how I have always seen text like that.
I so need to get my books back, but in old mercs books. Say that attacks are S.D.C. when projected? Only place I know off top of my head that you fight a astral projected being? So I would look over that if you have it?

So what u are suggesting Mouser13 is that even though I would be affected by a Burster's attack due to me being astral it would be considered an SDC attack?
Yes, though it may be a leap in logic and I have not read in it years. So I could be wrong.
(Makes something to the effect M.D.C. creatures are effect be S.D.C. hth attacks if you astral project to fight it.) The logical leap is if M.D.C. is S.D.C. in the astral plane then everything is.
Plus it just makes it more balanced.

Here's how it works (as far as I can tell):
When you're astrally projected you are not in the physical plane.
Any powers that you have that affect the physical plane now affect the astral plane instead.
Because that's the plane you're in.
As the book says (RUE 171), when you're in astral form you can only affect the physical world through Sensetive powers like Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Empathy, etc.
What it says is (RUE 171), "Remember, magic and psychic influence have full effect on the Astral Body."
That's "Influence", not "Attack".
It also says, "While in astral form the character [is]... impervious to physical harm".
These do not conflict.
You can be affected by mind-affecting magic and psionics, but physical magic and psionic can't touch you, just as your own magic/psionic physical attacks can't touch them.
Different planes.

BTW, Between the Shadows is a great book with lots of insightful info on the Astral Plane.

K, I can see the smack your laying down.... but.... in the FAQ it says you CAN use Mind Bolt. The description for this says its a physical attack. That kinda goes against what you are saying.
The FAQ is not offical. Nor is it often right.
Palladium has no offical FAQ. Just suggestions by people who don't work for palladium about questions, they don't hear.

As much as I enjoy good debate with KC, he is correct here.
When your Astral, your a ghost, nothing touches you. Fire is fire, whether it's magical, psionic, technological or natural in origin.
In astral form, you could Charleston on the surace of the sun until the end of time, no effect! That's why they have the "trade off" for this power of leaving your physical body helpless.

RIFTs Mercenaries pg 159
Its astral form only has 300 S.D.C. a Psi-Sword of a mind Bolt will do their normal damage( bue each point of damage rolled will count as one S.D.C. point, even for M.D.C attacks.)
So all attacks in astral form do S.D.C. damage.

That's a spcific essence of an Alien Intelligence which breaks normal rules and is stated to be different from normal Astral entities. So it can't be used as a comparison.

Yes, but it is the only rule out their for this subject. So it the only basis we have their is no rules has you said early in this post.

Where does it say that? I think you are assuming here. I just giving the only example use of astral project.
How can you break the rule if their is no rule?

You're both right to some extent. M.D.C. does not exist in the astral plane. Astral beings have astral S.D.C., and attacks made within the astral plane inflict astral S.D.C. damage.
The creature mentioned above is indeed a special case, as its "astral form" can be seen and contacted in the material plane without recourse to psionics or magic, making it more like a semi-intangible creature (sort of like a first-stage Promethean) than a true astral projection. Technically, it's really an essence fragment.

1) any powers that requiers touch are not usable.
2) TK only requires line of sight.
3) The astral traveler is immune to the physical effects of magic spells and PSI powers.
