What's yours or would be yours favorite place for your Dead Reign campaign:
1. What city/town/area etc. of the world.
2. What setting like mall, stadium, rural, hospital, cruise ship, etc.
3. Any thoughts you would like to share as to your choices.
My answers are:
1. London, England.
2. At a diner.
3. London, England because guns and ammo would be scarce.
The diner because it provides a place for the PC's to be together when it happens. Plus some improvised weapons are handy. Iron skillet, knives, maybe a crowbar for opening deliver crates and of course "Ye ole bar stool."

As a player, I'd opt for D.C., so I could blast politicians and lobbyists and get away with it.
(Note: I do not endorse or encourage the shooting of non-zombie politicians, lobbyists, or any other people.)
I cannot confirm nor deny that I agree with your statement
NOT, I REPEAT...NOT Big Bob..........................

New York.
I know that city very well, as do my players, and thus the percieved realism would be high.
The same goes for Saugerties (NY), Albany (NY), Yonkers (NY), Newark, Boston, and Philadelphia.

My group just ran a DR campaign set at the outbreak of the Zombie Apocolypse at Disney World (Lake Buena Vista, Florida). It was a blast!

Boulder, CO. Not only have I lived there for years (actually living just outside Boulder now) and know it like the back of my hand, but Hell if Stephen King's Book The Stand can take place in Boulder why couldn't a Zombie Campaign?

It's already full of the living dead?
According to the book, I presume.

Didn't Tom Clancy nuke Denver with the Vikings in the Superbowl in one of his books?

I think it a good choice to "go local" when it comes to DR campaigns. Its more fun when you know the lay of the land from first hand experience.
I'm in South Dakota and its good for DR as it has low population density and a large amount of guns making a large number of survivors possible if not likely. Good farm land and seed stocks to grow food. Ethanol plants to make fuel (assuming the hydroelectric dams keep providing a way to power them).

I tend to use cities I'm extremely familiar with. And they tend to be bigger cities. Milwaukee, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles.
Especially Vegas. Right on the strip. Nothing like waking up in your hotel room at MGM Grand and heading down to the buffet to find out that you're on the menu.
