three characters went into a bar in an SDC world setting. A Cyber-Knight, Godling, and a Mind Melter. The mind melter told the knight about two pick pockets working in order to cause trouble. they were confronted by a guy with a rune weapon who told them to leave. The knight took a bad hit because he wouldn't leave and killed the guy. the mind melter used tk to throw him out of the bar and they ran. the bar was a guild bar and the dead guy was the guild leader. this guild runs the town of 50,000 people. If I were the guild (I am as GM) I would higher 2 master archers to kill the mind melter for foiling revenge and the cyber knight for killing the leader in his own bar. what would you do. By the way they were new to the town and planet and this was their first stop after they visited the money changer.

At first it sounded like you were starting a joke...
Then the Cyber-Knight says,"That's not my Psi Sword."
But seriously, here's a wild idea.
I don't know what kind of town it is, but you could have the gang's tradition be to battle the killers of their leader to become the next head honcho.
So the two characters have to decide whether they want to duel for leadership they may not even want because of all the backstabbing scum, or run the gauntlet to escape the city.

Is it a merc town ? What other powers were there is this the MOST powerful guild in the town ? What kind of Guild exactly is this guild ? What did the godling do while the cybernight and mindmelter were doing this ? Personally I'd have the guy they killed be just an average level guild member and have the second in command show up an whoop them all three Bruce lee Style , Then laugh as the mind melter tried to do some psi-powers on him only to find out he is some kinda Nega Psi being . course that is just my way of spinning that one out heh .

Had to give you an other.
This is the way I'd rule it. The guild sends hunters after the players, which could lead to a whole new adventure in and of itself. The Godling will have to decide if he wants to stick with these characters too, because if he does, he could be getting dragged into a bloody battle and earning some very powerful enemies. Either way, I wouldn't just kill them outright, that hardly seems fair. Give them a fair chance, but make their lives hell. And if they still wind up dying in the end... well... shouldn't have killed the guild leader I guess!

This world is far too small not to want to see it all, but life is far too short to allow that to happen. - Falcon, Ranger (My primary hero in PFRPG setting)
"Unhand me you slobbering son of an Orcish whore!" - Ariana Moonstone, Palladin (Another primary character of mine.)
"Bastard!" War cry of Strut, Barbarian Mercenary. (That's for you James!)

I ruled other.
You said that the guild runs the town. Have you considered maybe having it that the town's people hate the guild (it's tyrannical or oppressive, taxes them into the poor-house, etc)? Maybe the poeple of the town view the 2 PCs as heroes for killing the guild leaders?
So the scenario could go like this: The guild could be trying to kill the two PCs or run them out of town while the characters have to organize the town to resist and then overthrow the guild. Might make for a totally different adventure than what you originally planned, but it could be really cool.
Just a thought.

A wise man once said, "Only a fool takes offense where none was intended." I repeat this good advice to myself at least once a day.
Calm, reasoned discourse is the best way to change minds; too bad all the calm & reason in the world can't open a willfully closed mind.
