I've read quite a few Japanese and Chinese comics featuring the use of Chi, in a cinematic context.
I don't really place limits on it, because (A) there are so few characters that have it to begin with, and (B) the amount of Chi possessed by Chi masters will quickly deplete if they burn through it enough.

That's the way we've used it. In one game, a long time ago, I had a character re-attach an arm just after it had been severed, using Chi Healing.
