Federation of Magic 2?

What is this old guard rebellion going to be about? And while I'm on the topic of the Federation of Magic... What happened to the MAgic Items waaay back in the first conversion book it was mentioned they would be in the War on Tolkeen (no dice)... And if the Summoner and Diabolist are so rare why are they mentioned in every second Rifts book? Will we ever see these Rifts OCC's?

Its going to be about the other groups in the Federation of magic. And (not to be a smart ass) but the rebellion of the old guard. Dunscon makes a lot of people mad. We get to see that.

Diabolists and Summoners haven't really been mentioned in Rifts at all.

Wha Wha.. I beg to differ they are mentioned in Vampire Kingdoms... The Revised Fedaration of Magic just for startes are you gonna make me pull my books out for this one Josh? A ist of mentions of Diabolists and Summoners in the Rifts books, heh this may taek awhile....

That's two books out of over 40. I doubt 20 or so mention them.

Okay the Rifts Diabolist & Summoner mentions can be a new thread just for josh once I compile this massive list....(they are mostly referenced in additon to Shifters and as being part of Magic Guilds)

Federation of Magic 2: The Old Guard Rebellion was announced quite some time ago.... Dweomer has been extensively covered in the "Revised" Federation of Magic

I would like to see more information on the FOM in general. No new spells or OCC or retooled old OCC either. We have enough of both. what we need is more background information and some advancement of the timeline and background information.

I'd like to see more automatons that are...different/unique.
And even though others wouldn't, I'd like to see more spells and OCCs that are cool. Not rehash or similar to something already out there.

No trimming. We like big books.

One would hope that the O.C.C.s don't overpower the original FoM stuff. My group already calls FoM "The Book of No" because every class in it is restricted in my campaigns.

One of the things I hope the books include is an update background information reflecting the changes that have happened in North America. I recently picked up FOM 1 and was very dissapointed with the 109 Update section of the book.

I say cut the book in 2 and get it out now! I don't like really big books they seem to get damaged more than usual sized books and are hard to photo copy pictures. Hope a Lazlo book coming soon too.

Wait till you guys see the O.C.C.’s we’ve done I think everyone will be very excited. Trust me, no lame O.C.C. rehashes here.
Can't wait to see a lot more info on those cities......
I wonder how the power creep(if any) in these upcoming OCC's will render OCC's in the first FoM book useless or if they're that much diffrent.
There is no way any of the Magus classes could be crept upon. If Palladium is thinking about it then hopefully they'll spend some time decideing if they want there OCCs to be as powerful as demigods with in a few levels. I would like the conjurer revisited I really think that the class has a lot of potenial that really never got exploited and since FOM 1 states it is a new school of magic less than 50 years old some advances could be reasonably expected. Some more about the SOciety of Sages fight for humanity would be nice as well

I can't wait for this book to come out. I sure hope someone starts a Rifts Africa 2 soon. The first Africa book needs a lot of work, it seems so outdated now. The setting was very incomplete with little detail about this mystical continent and the horsemen and the gods took up too much space. Me group does not want to play there because of the lack of information. Africa has so many legends and I know with the a good writer it could be epic.

Last I heard, they are still working on it.
I do not know, however, if they turned a manuscript in and Kevin sent it back for rewrites or what - or if they are still working on a pre-edit draft (for lack of a better term).
If anyone knows, it would be Brandon, so hopefully he spies this thread.

Dear Printers of this book.
Please print a Battle Magus OCC that is not loaded with editorial screwups. I don't care if people feel it's a waste of paper, but my Battle MAgus house rules, by themselves, are a half a page long because of problems with the internal text of the OCC. If you wish, I will mail them to you because of the inconsistencies in "The rules vs. this class."
As for "The Book of No?" Well, Knight of the White Rose/Mystic Knight is very popular, as is Battle Magus. There's two of each running around in my Rifts gameworld.
Virtually nothing else is played. Is Battle Magus that broken? Not really. Is it one of the more powerful Mortal SDC Creature things you can play? Yeah. But since both PC's are human, I haven't slapped an XP Penalty on anything yet, except Minotaur. (God, that race combined with Battle Magus is screamy)

It has two starting spell lists in different places in the OCC. It's badly edited, Squide. The other problem is that it breaks the rules on Sharpshooting for consistency purposes. Because Sharpshooting and Quick Draw initiative are always linked in other OCCs, it should be linked here, too, for consistency's sake. I'll post my house rules for it below, so you can understand what I'm getting at. Also includes rules for firing magic bolts from a moving vehicle, which isn't covered under the sharpshooting rules.
1) The Sharpshooting Specialties for this class work the same as for every other class in the game. Your Sharpshooting specialties determine what your Quick Draw Initiative Bonus applies to, just like every other class in the game that possesses this ability. Energy Rifle is on the Quickdraw List, Bow and Arrow and Magic Bolts are on the Quickdraw list. Nothing else is.
2) Additional Sharpshooting specialities are purchased as OCC Related skills normally.
3) You cannot purchase Sharpshooting for Magic Bolts as an OCC Related skill, you must take it in Chargen, or forever forego this ability.
4) Casting a spell from levels 6-10 while using Sharpshooting requires an immediate vehicle (A horse or other riding animal counts as a vehicle for this purpose) operations roll at -10%/Action Used. If you need to stop casting to control the vehicle, the penalty is -10%/action used. If you wish to cast paired magic bolts, you can do so, however, you must cast the spell twice. The only spells so far that this applies to are Throwing Stones, Electric Arc, and Lightning Arc. Nothing else fulfills the requirements.
5) You do not get ten bonus spells! You may learn two new spells per level and that’s it other than your allowed selections.
Oh, and cast my vote for a 350 page monster book.

I'm not sure I would even want to see such a sourcebook. It will be written along the lines of the old guard being too fractured, disorganized, weak and not trusting each other to get anything done. To ensure that nothing can happen to the fan favorite CS. As well as to ensure that no good or neutral faction can do anything to improve the status quo of Rifts Earth as well.

We get northern Gun 1 and 2 for the tech. people. Would love to get a magic book on par with these two. FoM 2 would fit the bill nicely. And I for one would love it to be a bigger book. I wouldn't mind paying alittle more, just to have all the new spells in one book instead of two or more.

Unless we count the 2,700 Diabolists (equal to the amount of Shifters/TWs/Warlocks) and 1,350 Summoners living in Kingsdale, specified on page 102 of Juicer Uprising
Anyone recall subtle references to these PRPG-born OCCs in Rifts books? Am thinking they might show up more often in earlier books (perhaps other Carrella works?) than later ones.

Given that now all the major tech players have been pretty well and truly covered in one or more book probably nice if some focus for future books shifts to magic/psi for a bit.

Not neccessarily a new FoM book, but something magic-based would be nice.
Yup heck a psiscape 2 could be awesome. As much as I would like a new federation of magic or lazlo type book psi powers are probably the one part of the rifts system that could use the most love.

Yes, but as I've mentioned in previous threads, it should be a dimension book called "Psi-World" (original title Erin Tarn used for the place) and explore the astral side (the actual city) and plane. Rifts has never gotten a 'Between the Shadows' equivalent, and the astral plane would be a huge factor that's largely been ignored.

I would love a rifted up official version of between the shadows. That is a pretty awesome book and a lot of really unique ideas.

I think a lot is going to depend how beat up the CS gets in the minion wars. Sounds like they and the northern gun are going to be pretty much on the front lines of that conflict which for the CS is pretty much right on the heels of the war with tolkeen without a lot of rebuilding time from those losses. They could "win" vs the demon hordes but wind up very much weakened and vulnerable to federation of magic attacks.
