Free Range Scarecrows

Unread post by LostOne »

I got to thinking, the limitations on Scarecrows needing the Elixir can make playing the character limiting. So I was wondering what people thought about an additional bio-tech enhancement, similar to a juicer harness or even a Thermos(TM) made out of bio-tech, that dispenses the Elixir? So the Scarecrows could be sent on extended missions away from home, or a benevolent and dying Librarian could ensure his newest Scarecrows who still have a potential long life ahead of them could survive his death.

That is a good point. Those units could and should be allowed to travel on missions away from the houses. I agree!
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

I like the limiters on the Scarecrow. I would have Librarians send them on longer missions just to test their endurance. Also, its good for roleplay as you have this one guy sweating to get back to the House.

You want the Scarecrow to be deeply tied to his Librarian, because that is the symbosis and trade off. Remember, going without Elixir isn't auto-dead, its a process that get progressively worse for the character so they are quite able to go on a mission of some length before they expire.

Scarecrows traded humanity for power they get to lord over others. These aren't good guys. Make'em sweat.

Well that does make a lot of sense. I think I need to reread that group. Thank you for pointing that out Spinachcat!

Good point, when you put it like that, I agree.

There's also a note in the OCC that they get several vials of elixir as standard equipment so there's already a vehicle in place to allow them to leave the House for extended missions.

Not sure how I missed that, thanks for pointing it out, demos606!

As I said I have to reread it. I must do this very thoroughly!

Just happens I love Scarecrows and one of my characters is a 'crow (other is an 'angel). A 'crow with paired bio-e pistols is a frightening thing in combat.

I have now dug my copy out of my Palladium library. Now comes checking it all out again. It has been way too long!
