Also, I have a question to pose for all of you. Here it is: As the mutant mutates into the new form, does it gain/lose the needed organs and muscles (I.E.: lengthening/shortening of certain muscles and organs, along with losing of certain parts of their anatomy)?

Yes. Vestigial organs and/or limbs are those parts of the body that are no longer needed or used due to changes in the creatures environment or behavior. For example human's still have their tail bone (coccyx), appendix, wisdom teeth, etc...
