So a psychic gets a Talisman of Telekinesis (3rd level Invocation spell), and activates it, and its made by an 8th level mage, so it lasts 8 minutes. The psychic then meditates and goes into a trance to Astral Project. Can he still use TK from the talisman, even though he's left his body + talisman behind ?

Yes, since the magic would travel with the mind once it has been activated because it is associated with the mind. But only one activation can be done like that. If it had been an amulet, ether it wouldn't work or the amulet would have to stay in contact of the body of the mage.

Kill hound, the only way a Astral being could possess someone would be for them to have the possess others power. Weather it be a natural power or hero power or PSI power.

talismans work by way of a command word or some other type of function. If your spirit is not there to activate the talisman then the talisman will not activate and you will not get telekinesis. The only way it would work is if the talisman is always on, which i doubt.

so i say no.

i think there should be a difference between psychic and magical telekinesis. psychic telekinesis is obviously the persons mind manipulating the world around him, but magical telekinesis is more like magic manipulating the world around him as he wills it.

What you said and what he asked are two different things.
1st He asked if he activated the T before he goes astral 'would the magic go with his mind?'

2nd What you answered was 'if I go astral can I still used T's?"

For the 1st question I will stand by my answer of 'yes'.
For the second one I'll stand by my answer of 'no'. which just happens to agree with what you think.

sorry i missed that.

Then i would still say no since the mind is tied to the body and not the spirit. Just like the old tri-stat system: mind, body, and spirit.

the mind is the consciousness of the person, if it has an out of body experience then what?

ok, so i put more thought to this as i rode the bus to class. Here is what i came up with. The talisman is the item bestowing the ability to use telekinesis. The talisman is worn by the person so that when it is activated the person gains the ability, but only as long as the item is worn. Now i know Palladium does not go into minute detail as far as that type of stuff, but from what i have seen in books and other games the person must wear the talisman well it is activated to use the power. Once it is removed the power is gone.
Yes, the mind leaves the body to travel astrally. However, if the mind leaves the body it is no long in the body and can no longer be affected by the talisman.

(1) This statement describes a magic amulet, as PB describes it. I actually mention in my 1st post on this subject that the use of a amulet that that magic stays with the amulet which is with the body. That the Amulet has to be touching the body, is why I said that using an amulet might not work the way the topic poster was asking about. Leaving in some GM descressionin the mix.

The way PB describes a Talisman, is something that stores 'spell magic' until the user uses it, or to store mystical power (PPE) till it is used. Yes, the char using the T has to be touching the T to activate the T, but once the Spell magic is activated, the magic no longer resides in the T.
Since spell magic that gives the mind a physical power does not rest in the body, the spell magic would go with the mind till it ended.

i had to pull my book out for that. i had not thought there was a difference between a talisman and an amulet, but it seem you are right.

I don't think it would work or it would just be able to manipulate the range around his physical body. A Achilles Neo-Human has Hyper-Telekinesis and can move upwards of 3,000 lbs so he can deal 1D4x15 M.D. with 3,000 lbs object while in astral form.
