My list of most Useful Spells:
Escape
Magic Net
Carpet of Adhesion
Magic Armor (From NB and since it doesn't have a equivalent in rifts it converts full over to MDC) this is replaced by AoI in sdc
Realms)
Shadowmeld
Chameleon
I can find uses for most spells though just takes creative thinking

Lantern light
Cleanse
create wood
ignite fire
Fly
Mend the broken
sustain
create water

Carpet of Pwnage.
Level 13
Range: 20'
Duration: 5 min.per level
Saving Throw: Standard
PPE: 70
This spell causes all the stuff with-in range of the caster to appear desierable and owned by the mage. If a passerbyer fails his/her saving throw is drawn to something near the mage and makes the mage an off on the item. If the deals go down quikly an unscupulus mage could sell out a vender's stall while the vendor makes a restroom break.

Didn't see anyone state it, but energy sphere is one of most usefull. With the new ley-line rules it amost broken.

This spell creates a golden sphere that can store up to 200 P.P.E. per level of spell caster. This will continue till all stored P.P.E. is used up or by the mage using the P.P.E. himself or to another if it is given to him.

House of Glass spell is devastating if cast on an M.D.C. creature who don't ware armor and their up against S.D.C. opponents.
One of our group is a Shifter and if she get surprised shes useds blinding flash which can weaken an entire group's combat bonuses (-10) for a few rounds. So cheap, yet it can turn the tables on anyone who fails the save. If it fails try it again why not anyone who fails the save restarts the duration or continues the old spells duration if it was longer. This can give you time to setup or give you a chance to get some easy attacks while there blinded.
