Boomer Patches - New Bio-tech Espionage Weapon

Boomer Patches are an insidious little device that are only known to House Shiva (or whatever works in your game). They can be used both as a tool of assassination, tool of terror, or tool of desperation/retribution.

They work like this:
Attach the patch to a human or host armor or biotic, etc. The patch begins pumping a unique radiation into the target.

The radiation gathers in the body and begins growing a tumor that begins collecting specific minerals and chemicals from the body as it passes in the bloodstream.

After an indeterminate time, usually 4d6 hours, the tumor explodes, killing the host and dealing 2d6x10 damage to a 20ft radius.

Common tactics are to have operatives infiltrate an enemy house and begin attaching these to unsuspecting targets, or a specific assassination target. Rare tactics include putting these on House Shiva soldiers who are being sent on missions they either are not expected to survive, or where the possibility of capture is extremely high. Most soldiers can hold out against interrogation techniques until the tumor explodes.

Once the patch has been attached for ten minutes, removing it will not help, enough radiation has entered the body to achieve the explosive reaction. However, an experienced surgeon or Saint that knows to look for the tumor can remove it with little difficulty, provided it doesn't reach the explosive point first.

House Shiva is also working on a method to speed up the transfer of radiation and put these patches into various dispersal methods. Imagine a bomb that launches boomer patches in place of shrapnel, an entire room of people could be converted into walking time-bombs.

The tumor wouldn't necessarily be big...you could fit a golfball into the chest cavity without someone feeling it.

I thought of another point while driving in to work today, in case you were unconvinced still (doesn't seem to be the case, but I'll post it anyway).

There is lots of things happening inside the body that we can't feel. Stomach crushing up food, intestines moving things along, heartbeat (usually can't feel that unless exercising, etc), diaphram pushing organs down when taking deep breaths, etc. So with all that going on, I doubt anyone would feel a small golf-ball sized organ forming.

It's obviously not something intended to be used by the players or directly against the players.

A variation of this for more benign purposes might be a 'death mold' or 'deadman switch' for Splicers who fear being captured, tortured, and recycled by the Machine into NecroZombies...If a certain physical threshold is reached(pain, certain chemcials in the bloodstream), a deliberate signal is sent, or the body simply goes dead, the cyst breaks open to release a fast-acting fungoid that decomposes the body into a powerful and volatile sac of explosive chemicals...
BOOM...
No more body for the Machine to recycle...no vuiltures to bother with, and battlefield scavengers beware!

Just make sure your buddies know better than to come back and try to recover your body for a funeral...
