Hey,
I'm thinking of letting my players take a martial art from N&S for our upcoming campaign. Right now, if their PFRPG OCC can take Martial Arts H to H, I'll let them pick one from N&S for an additional skill slot.
How else could I handle this?
Do you see any problems?
Any house rules I can draw upon?

There's a pretty good article on the PF orient in one of the Rifters that covers this. With optional rules for choosing these HTH's. I use them all the time with very few restrictions, I just ensure that my players know if they're allowed to use them... then so are their enemies!

My house rules on PF + N&SS
OCC must have the ability to choose HTH MA.
skill cost is equal to the secondary years cost listed in N&SS.
Exclusive MA's are not available to most OCCs
I have also created a handfull of OCCs for my games.
Ninja (ninjitsu exclusive to this class)
Samurai (zanji shinjinken-ryu exclusive to this class)
Martial Warrior (select any one non-exclusive form)
Martial Monk/Priest (select any 2 non-exclusive or 1 exclusive form)
Martial Master (select any 3 non-exclusive or 1 exclusive and 1 non-exclusive form)
plus of course any OCC from Mystic China

MAs are both powerful, and represent years of dedicated practice and study. This aint yo mamas self defense your learning, its fantasy crouching tiger hidden death blow from above here, it should cost a bit more the a couple skills that typically represent a few months of light study and tend to offer little benefit. At least conceptually. If your just wanting to up the kill game of all your PCs, then giving them out like candy is a sure fire way to do it.

for fun
um kind? the average secondary year cost is 6...and only OCC related skills can be spent that way...that represents a considerable amount of time seeing as thats the average number of related skills per occ in PF. plus only non-exclusives may be selected. pretty well balanced IMO.

I allow Warrior Monks to choose a Martial Art form. They lose most of their class abilities (1, 2, 3, & 7), HtH Martial Arts, and the two initial WPs, but they get the form and all of its benefits. They default to Isshin-Ryu, of course (unless they just want to play a standard Warrior Monk; that's fine, too).
