Kevin on the Palladium Open House
As you might be able to tell from our press release. we are already extremely excited about the 2009 Palladium Open House.
We had so many requests from people who attended (and many who did not, claiming they “would” if only it was a day longer) ask us to extend the days, that we decided to give it a shot. If all goes smoothly, lots of people come for the three-day weekend and people have a blast, we’ll keep the Open House a three day event (plus V.I.P. Thursday).
The new location of the Palladium Office and Warehouse in Westland is a little farther from Detroit Metro Airport, but has a slue of hotels, restaurants to eat at (fast food and otherwise), and Westland Mall literally minutes from the site.
My goal is to make the Open House smoother, more fun and exciting than ever. So I want more guests, more games, more gamers in attendance, more costumes, more fun, better organization, and cool events. We might do a special Erick Wujcik memorial something, a live auction, and we’re thinking about other things.
You can help by consider the following:
1. Give us your suggestions. What would you suggest to make the event better?
For example, a number of people who were there suggested hosting the costume contest at a time when games are NOT running so everyone can see the event. Smart idea. And no, it wasn’t obvious (is now!) to us because we are just so busy and distracted by so much other stuff. That’s what makes your input so valuable. Consider this idea for the Saturday costume event approved! Question: hold it late afternoon (4:00 P.M.) or early evening (7:00 P.M.)?
Another suggestion, by the late, great Erick Wujcik, was that I should host the auction live, and be the auctioneer. Prior to this, the auction was silent bids written on a sheet of paper. Hmm, what do you think?
2. Reserve your admission tickets sooner than later. Two reason for that: A) We have limited space at the Palladium warehouse and office, and after about 300 people, we may have to limit the number of attendees; b) we want to make sure we have enough game events to accommodate EVERYONE who attends!
3. We will need quality Game Masters. If you are good, coming and willing to host an event, PLEASE let us know. And include your T-Shirt size. Send your real name, telephone number, email address, a list of how many games you’d be willing to run, the name of the game, the name of the RPG line (Rifts®, HU2, BTS, etc.), which day you’d like to run it, how many people can play, and how many hours it will last -- to Wayne Smith at rifter@palladiumbooks.com and/or send a private Message to Reelman at the Megaversal Ambassadors. For more info on the MA, go to the Megaversal Ambassador message board.
Btw, the Megaveral Ambassadors is a loose-knit cadre of Game Masters (like Kenneth Haun and James Brown, among many others) who volunteer to run Palladium RPG gaming events at local conventions and game stores in their area.
If you’re a quality G.M. and would like to become a Megaversal Ambassador, please check out the Megaversal Ambassador Message Board and let Reelman know you are available to run events and where. The more proactive you are (i.e., letting us know about a convention in your area and that you would like to run X number of events there) the more it helps us. And give us advanced Notice. If we have enough time and you request it, Palladium will send established Megaversal Ambassadors RPG product to give away as prizes (like a signed core rule book), catalogs and other stuff to give to their players.
The idea behind the Megaversal Ambassadors, founded by Zachary Houghton, is to promote Palladium Books, its role-playing games and the joy of role-playing. It’s a cool grassroots way to build and strengthen the Palladium gaming community and introduce new people to the joy of role-playing. Again, go to the Megaversal Ambassadors Message Board and post questions and suggestions, or PM Reelman directly, to join the Ambassadors.
Thanks. We hope to see a lot of people come at the 2009 Palladium Open House. Which is only 10 months away. That is not that far away. It will be here in no time.
Oh yeah, because the Open House V.I.P. night ALWAYS sells out so fast (limited to about 60 gamers), we are announcing roughly one month in advance, when the V.I.P. tickets will go up for sale. Which is July 31, 2008. Sold on a first come, first served basis.
Yep, fun times are ahead of us. And new product is coming soon, starting with The Rifter #43 in just a week and a half.
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
