Do the Rifter a few times. That's the best way to get noticed. Trust me.

Seconded.
You have to prove that you can consistantly submit smaller works (articles) first before you get the go-ahead for a full book.

I'll add to the chorus. Show them that you can do articles of substance... not just tons of stats, but smart articles on how things work in the game world of your choice, or new takes on ideas.
Oh, and
be patient.

Don't get discouraged when asked for a re-write.
Or in my case, mule onnery pig-headed stubborness of changing your prose.

I cannot say for certain, but I would think the length might be a big part of what is keeping it in limbo. 85 pages is simply too much for a Rifter, and it would have to broken down into smaller segments. However, even if it saw publication over a year (four installments), each portion would still be 21 pages in length... which is a big chunk of a magazine with about 112 pages.
It's for just that reason that I have tried my best to keep the Wormwood Addenda submissions in the neighbourhood of 10 pages each.

What I said was just a guess, you realise, and not a concrete reason... but best of luck regardless!

read by the editor? I even submitted it in person and got a brief tour of the old warehouse/offices. I submitted it digitally and in printed format and opened a support ticket with the staff after a few months; which eventually got me to the point where I could talk to the editor in person, which is when I found out that almost 8 months later it had not even been looked at.
I have redone some of the material and expanded it a great deal. There's probably enough content to justify an entire dimension book. I am getting ready to re-submit it in its current form.
If it's no good, I can handle that criticism, I just want it to be looked at....

Patience, Grasshopper.
Wayne has one bastard of a slush pile to go through on top of his other duties at PB and it takes a while to get to even articles from us established freelancers. He'll get to it...have faith.
It took about two years before I heard back on the Mental Skills article that made it into #19 (my first).
My second and third (Guns for Hire in #25 and A Cut Above in #30) took all of two weeks...
...
however my next (Walk on the Wild Side in #40 & 42 IIRC) took a full year for Wayne to get to even though I handed it right to them.
It's a matter of patience and a little luck, but I can tell you now it's a far cry better than most large publishing places where the slush is so large that most submissions are discarded after looking at only the cover letter.
