What skill would people use to hotwire a car?
Basic Electronics? Basic Mechanics?

I would say that any of the following would give the character the know how.

Basic Electronics
Streetwise (general petty criminal knowledge)
Basic or Advanced Automotive

New vehicle with computerized anti theft devices such as laser coded keys, transponders, keyFOB's..etc. Special equipment only plus skills. (I'm a professional car audio guy, I hot wire cars on a daily basis..yes also know as installing remote starters.)

Your problay right as to modern cars but I'd get rid of mchincal engineering for older cars. Basic electronics and auto mechinics would suffice
I remember days like this when my father took me to the forest and we ate wild blueberries. More than 20 years ago. I was just a boy of four or five. The leaves were so dark and green then. The grass smelled sweet with the spring wind...For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.
