Any hints on what will be in the Masters book???

Unread post by Chris0013 »

I think it is safe to assume the Macross book will have the destroids and veritechs....possibly even the VF-4 prototype (which would be hot).

But what about the Masters?...all I see is that it will be "in-depth coverage, new and updated information" (straight from the website)....

How about at least w list of the mecha. Yes I already know about the VHT, Logan, and AJACS....how about the destroids and power armor. Not looking for stats but an idea of what there will be.
I know it is a little extreme to advocate the death penalty for stupidity...but can't we just remove all the warning labels and let nature take it's course???

The Mountain/Alpine troops' mecha was the Satyros. That was a misprint as the ProtoZor are what we call The Flowers of Life in Robotech.....The Masters were The Zor Lords in Southern Cross.

The Desert Squad had the Basilisk and the Forest Squad's mecha may be the Dryad /(translations being somewhat iffy).

Ironically, the Southern Cross book is probably going to be the most intently anticipated book of the series, since the first run-through got such sort shrift(maybe because the perceived attitude was that among fans the Southern Cross arc was the least popular of the three), but the fan appreciation for ASC has grown...
Still, there will be many surprises for those used to the 'old version' and no doubt a few disappointments for the true diehard ASC buffs who have made it their work to restore some shade of glorie to the ASC arc...

Have you tried to set it for 1mb file size? That is usually enough to do it.

I certainly hope so...One of my biggest nits about the original SC RPG book was that an art reference it was useless! The ah-so-intriguing ASC body armors were rendered mostly in that awful grainy shadowed style that made details impossible to make out(and this was before I, and most of us, had the internet to fall back on for research)..
And, of course, the lack of capital ships...(I'd still kill for a 3-view schematic of most of the SC ships...)

I pretty regularly check Yahoo Japan for old issues of Animec that contain Southern Cross material in hopes of coming across an issue with the lineart for them. So far only the Algada has artwork (Tokugawa in Robotech).

They come up on YJ incredibly infrequently. I bid on them when they do. At the moment, Palladium has all my copies. :D I've also burned alot of money on issues of old anime magazines that are next to worthless as they have no lineart.

Liked those pics showing what division has what... alot of fan sites mix them up.

Really hope it is all in there and not wussed out like the original masters book made them.

The TC Battloid / Salamander was practically worthless compared to the Hovertank and Bioroids. Should be at least as tough as either one.

And the CDU and Desert Squad chests look like the Battloids could have a decent missile load out.

As you may have seen from my old post I always felt the shows and books focused too much on the Veritechs and not enough on the non-transformable stuff. Lets face it as week as the old book had the battloids no one really wanted to play them so a lot of good game ideas may have gone to waste.

actually, from watching the Show, the Macross Era had more "Red-Shirt" VF-1/Destroids in comparison to the Mecha in the SC era. The VF-1 had a tendency to have its Canopy blown out killing the pilot instantly. the Canopy of Rick's VF-1s goes out in "Force of arms".
honestly, if your Name wasnt "Rick" "Max" or "Miryia" you had a decent chance of bieting it in Macross.

Thou, I hope to see Robotech Masters in the new Masters Book.

Actually, it appears that the shoulders of the Salamander are missile pods, since its odd they have seams and the chest just so happens to have glacis sloping to allow the pod to open inward. Probably a good place for 78mm point-blank missiles (like those in the head of the Alpha) instead of either 190mm Short-Range Missiles or 60mm Mini-Missiles.

Salamander Officer Battloid Lineart

Like I said, its odd that it has seams on oversized shoulder pods (notice those very items are missing on the Recon's Monocle).

I hope they have Tirolians as PCable Characters, this was one of the biggest failings of the Original book IMHO.

Yeah It's a common syndrom with anime, and many war and sci-fi shows in general.

Unless you were a Muse, they really weren't developed as characters much...And the few non-drones either tended to get cut down within the episode, or turned into raging sociopaths....

I have to agree about wanting the Tristar and Tokugawa in there. But I know I may have to wait on those two. Would have been nice to have them in there and have given us a bonus with both the ASC and UEEF mecha compliment.
