Has anyone played a Murder-Mage? If so, give your character some props here!

They are a Necromancer variant from a Rifter.
I think an earlly Halloween Rifter.

They gain power through killing rather then the typical Necromancer who gains power through manipulating the dead.

I'm playing one currently that was kidnapped and raised by a Murder-Mage. He's screwed in the head but struggles to be good. He's learning to be a better guy. He kills in combat, but doesn't see that as murder. He's been taught his whole life that it's just nature.

Once he tracks down and kills his old Master (who killed his new family), he's going to go "good" and switch OCCs.

I've only managed to sneak the Murder-Mage OCC past a GM 1 time and he said never again after that session. If you build these guys to be ambush/stealth killers instead of the typical "I run up and rip off your face," then their lethality skyrockets. I mean, what could be more scary than a guy who jumps out of the bushes and has the Death Strike spell prepped, tags your caster and 1 shots him....you've got something to seriously worry about.

If your GM lets you play this OCC, try and get the advanced prowl skills from Rifter #30 I believe (the one with the mystic knight on the cover). Trust me...just roll a normal human or someone with standard strength or augmented strength so they can't do MD. Death Strike benefits greatly from this since it doubles the damage and then converts it to MD...so if you can pump out 30 SDC in one hit then you just did 60 MD (this is according to the last time I checked so I could be wrong....but I'm pretty sure thats what it does). Also try and get Hand to Hand Gladiator from the Merc adventure book.

Murder-Mages are death factories. Yeah your crazy, but so what...the immortal dragon that hangs out with Set is crazy too, but he seems to do OK. I mean...being afraid of twinkies could be a phobia you come down with and that doesn't seem all that bad.
