The Anvil Galaxy book has the most details, containing an entire section about the various myths an legends about the Cosmic Forge, most of them contradictory of each-other and at times themselves.

However, it's very clear these are all just legends and details where the various legends are given the most creedance. it quite deliberately shys away from giving any concrete information except the basics.

It was created by the first race, One of the first race got greedy, sezied momentary control of it and used it to instantly obliterate the rest of his entire race. Then the Sentient cosmic forge reeled at what it had done and then destroyed the one who used it so. Realizing that at this point it had completely wiped out it's creating race in a bit less than a second it sequestered itself somewhere and hid.

The only reason anyone knows about it, besides various First Race ruins, is that after a while it decided to help out the newly evolved races by creating Cosmo Knights, it's also intervined with power at various other times to help out specific races.

I have been slowly putting together a campaign for a Rifts group, Trying to find a source for the rifts themselves and putting a stop to their creation, a desperate attempt to save their Rifts earth from further dimensional distruption.

If it were truely possible to stop rifts from forming the megaverse would be thrown into chaos. Chaos is fun!! :twisted:


That's already proven possible and it dosn't cause widespread chaos. the same book/section I mentioned mentions one other Rift World that was just as bad and chaotic as Rifts Earth, until the people there discovered how to put a stop to it all.

Granted, the cost was completely destroying all magic potental their race held and the cosmic forge still had to intervine to help it happen (by donating a massive amount of PPE to the ritual unexpectedly)

I thinking that was aliens unlimited that had it. It also burned all the P.P.E. perm from the race that did it. I was thinking it wasn't cosmic forge that they left it open to whatever ie could have been a god or cosmic forge or even a evil demon lord getting a race to burn all races P.P.E. away, but I could be wrong.
