A Useful Thing for a Bored Person to Do

You know what would be really useful, if someone were bored enough to do it?

Sit down, and get an average word count per page of the Rifter. I'm sure it's been done, but I'm sitting there, looking at my newest project (an article about the brodkil), and realizing I want to know approximate page count... and that the easiest way to calculate that would be to have an average word count per page.

Anyone bored?

Yeah. The problem is, I'm lazy. So, even if I get that bored, I wouldn't do it. It would take someone both bored and industrious.

Sounds interesting. But who is going to volunteer to do that? Not me. I don't have a functional scanner.

I would have, but I do not have a scanner.

Generally, 1 manuscript page at 10 type set with a reasonable font equates to 1/2 a book page.

I don't recall seeing that one on MSWord's font list. :P

As I recall, 10-point Times New Roman used to be the standard (working out something like 1-1.5 pages per electronic page I think). Now... I want to say Courier New is the standard with either 10 or 12 point font working out to a page per two electronic pages (though my recollection is fuzzy, so I could be pretty off).

Your best bet would just be to email Wayne and pester him about it.

Any pictures on those pages? Otherwise, I'm going to start low-balling at 900 words a page, for rough counts.

No pictures -- that is why I picked those two specific pages.

Did you count the words themselves or standardized word count?

Standardized word count is that every 5 characters is a word (including spaces).

So, antidisestablishmentarian-ism is both 1 and 5 words if you include a space at the beginning or end...

I counted manually using two eyeballs.

That joke would have been better if I had asked 'How did you count them?'. However I didn't so that joke fell flat ;)

if you are that board you could actully write something to submit to the rifter.

I am working on something, actually. Unlike the last one, the subtitles are not named after Clash songs.
