I just posted in Nightbane regarding a Nightlord invasion into the Heroes Unlimited world. Well, lets say that there are a few shrines/monasteries dedicated to the various Martial Art disciplines. (from N&S and MS)
How do you think that the advanced students and masters (say character levels 8+) would handle the situation. How would Chi skills and Chi related magic affect the unstopable, invincible, god-like Nightlords? (No Enlightened Immortals, or any immortals.) How would humans ~ be they super, or magic wielding, or awesome martial artists, handle the Nightlord threat?
All opinions welcome!
Thanks,

It helps level the playing feild aginst most Minions. Nothing really helps aginst a nightlord except for a tactical nuke.

There was a Rifter article way back which featured martial arts that were specifically designed for the Nightbane world. A strong martial artist like a Dedicated Martial Artist with chi powers is about a tough a a weaker-to-average Nightbane character (using the actual Nightbane R.C.C.). A Demon Hunter would feel right at home, although he's probably be out-muscled easily enough. A Blind Master with the chi power of Cure Insanity might be able to stop an Ashmeandi from rampaging, but that would require a gamemaster ruling about whether or not supernatural evil creatures are actually insane. I could consider any of the monsters from the Nightlands to be creatures of Negative Chi. Therefore a MC character with Negative Chi powers should be able to control such creatures. These darker martial artists would be far be the biggest obstacle to a Nightlord invasion of Mystic China. The super-spies would have a few edges when it comes to survival and infiltration, but they really have no way to go toe-to-toe against the bigger monsters.
Similar to the Blind Master I suggested earlier, Nightbane monsters are most vulnerable to character that affect their minds. The best way to neutralize a Night Prince or even a Night Lord would be with a Master Psychic (found in both Heroes Unlimited and the Nightbane sourcebook, Between the Shadows). This just occurred to me yesterday. If you can get a Master Psychic close enough to actually touch the skull of the boss NPC (how you get them that close, I don't know), the Master Psychic can do a few things. I don't think these monsters have Auto-Mind Block, but they are entitled to saving throws, and they have good bonuses. Then he can Mind Wipe for 50 ISP and 4 ME. It wipes the entire mind clean, so the boss can't remember his own name, much less why he turned evil in the first place. The psychic can then Insert Memory to fill the void with a copy of his own memories. I would argue that an entire life could be classified as one particular memory. Now you have a Night Lord who sees things your way.
