Dark Heresy, like Call of Cthulhu, is a very grim and fatalistic game.
The more the characters behave like they are supposed to, fighting evil cultists and horrible monsters, the more insane and corrupt they become.
The rules support the kind of background or story being adapted.
The players should be warned of this before the start of the game.
Games like Rifts or Beyond the Supernatural can be just as deadly.
If characters were wandering around with only SDC armor for protection they are going to have to be very careful when dealing with MDC creatures or tech.
Same goes with mere mortals against supernatural baddies.
I always try to give the players some fair chance to either witness what a threat can do first hand from a safe distance or find evidence of it later.
Let them figure out how deadly the situation is.
Then they can decide if or how they want to confront it and won't blame me for springing an impossible death-trap encounter on them.
