Palladium Progress Report January 23, 2009

It has been an action packed week. I worked to set up other projects, plot schedules, organize artists, and touched base with freelance writers for upcoming and future projects. That’s on top of editing, writing, coordinating with Harmony Gold, trying to get my Open House Update finished (it is two weeks late from when I originally wanted to post it), paying bills, special projects, and taking care of other business. Whew, I’m tired just writing about it let alone having done it all. Still putting in 7-day work weeks, 12-14 hours a day (going on week four now, ick).

Here are some updates and details.

UPDATE:
Rifts® Movie Letter Writing Campaign

I sent my letter to Chad Oman and Jerry Bruckheimer last week via mail and email direct to Chad (no, I cannot share his email address with you). In addition to why I think they should make a Rifts movie, I explained how I accidentally started a letter writing campaign, and how they could expect to see several hundred letters, maybe more, coming in from Rifts fans around the world.

So don't let me down. :? I hope EVERYONE is sending out their letters soon!

If you haven’t sent yours yet, PLEASE send it next week. We can and should continue to send letters about why Rifts would make a great movie property all next week and thru February. The more, the better. Just one more way YOU can make a difference.

From what I can tell, it sounds like at least 150-200 letters have been sent or are in the process of being sent. Several fan-friends emailed me or read me their letters, and they all sounded GREAT! I was surprised how each one captured some new, positive aspect of Rifts® or Rifts® fandom that the others (me included) did not include in their letter. Awesome. This is also why we need hundreds (better yet THOUSANDS!!!) of fans to send letters.

Spread the word to get more people to send those letters to:

Jerry Bruckheimer
c/o JB Films
1631 Tenth Street
Santa Monica, CA 90404

It is easy. It is fun. And each of your letters can really make a difference. Your cost: A small amount of time, an envelope and a 42 cent stamp. A lot of letters will show JB Films gamers are really serious about them doing a Rifts® movie and might be all it takes to convince them the time to make a Rifts movie is now. ;)

UPDATE:
Rifts® Dyval™, Hell Unleashed

My work on Robotech® The Masters Saga, reviewing manuscripts, business demands and some exciting behind the scenes things forced me to adjust the release date for Dyval to end of next month, February 26.

Fear not, Dyval™ will ship in February and this is another great book! Carl Gleba’s imagination is unchecked and kicking it at full throttle in this second Hell book, as well as in Dimensional Outbreak™. You are going to love both of these upcoming books and all the books in the Minion War™ series. I hope to get Dyval™ to the printer in the next week or two.

UPDATE:
Rifts® The Shemarrian Nation™

Jason Marker is already fast at work editing and tweaking Rifts® Shemarrian Nation adventure sourcebook and loving it. We are shooting for a March (or April) release; shooting for March.

Everyone thinks Shemarrians are D-Bees, but they are really androids created by Archie Three and are part of several expanding Archie schemes!

UPDATE:
Rifts® Dimensional Outbreak™

As soon as I am done with Robotech® Masters and Dyval™, I start work on Dimensional Outbreak™. Yes, that means both Dyval™ and Dimensional Outbreak™ will be out by the Palladium Open House, April 30! And the rest of the books will see release throughout the year.

I have been talking to artists and lining them up to work on Outbreak and other books in the pipeline. I also spoke to author, Carl Gleba, and reports that the last book in the Minion War™ series, Megaverse in Flames™, is DONE. He wants to let it sit for a month or two before he sends it in, so he can go back and gives it one last lookover and edit.

I don’t know if anyone realizes what a huge undertaking this Minion War™ series was to write. Not just to write FIVE big books, but to keep each one different, exciting, and brimming with compelling characters, places, and ideas.

My hat is off to Carl, these books are awesome and fans are going to love ‘em. My apologies for not getting them out sooner, but as I said, 2008 was pretty crazy for us.

UPDATE:
Nightbane® Survival Guide Sourcebook

I have reviewed the manuscript, loved what I saw and we are shooting to have it released in March or April. I’ve already talked with artists Stephen Fox and Amy Ashbaugh about working on it, and everyone is excited to get this book into production. Authors Mark Oberle and Irvin Jackson did a great job on this book. Nightbane® fans are going to love it.
