I heard about this episode back when NBC was trying to have a horror anthology show called 'Fear Itself'.
There was an episode called "New Years Day", and it's about zombies. It's pretty good, and there IS a twist at the end. But it also gives you a good idea of what 'The Wave" might have looked like.
I know, you're thinking "But Tricky, how can we see this show?"
Well, old Tricky has found it on Fear.net. And I've brought Links! http://www.fearnet.com/shows/fear_itself/b14099_fear_itself_new_years_day.html
Enjoy. (people younger than 14 should maybe not watch it, m'kay?)

Re: Fear Itself: New Years Day
You know, I never really thought of it that way, but you're right. But sorta a varient that thinks it's a living person until it's proven otherwise. (after being shot, her zombism took over, for example.)
Makes you wonder if every zombie we've ever seen is in it's own little world, trying to figure out why these guys are trying to kill them.
