Palladium Books® Weekly Update – Nov. 2, 2017

By Kevin Siembieda

One game system – every genre – countless worlds – endless adventure

I hope your Halloween was a happy one. Ours was excellent. I talk about it more at the end of the update and news section of this Weekly Update. This week has started out with a bang. I’ve been approving artwork for Rifts® Sovietski™ from several artists, and writing my fingers off. In fact, I put in nine hours of work before our Halloween party, so it was a very long but positive day. The Rifter® #78 ships on Monday next week, and various people are working on several books, including The Rifter® #79, Rifts® Sovietski, Rifts® Bestiary Volume One and Volume Two, and the Dead Reign®: In the Face of Death™ sourcebook.

Over the weekend I did an original pen and ink illustration for a Surprise Package of a long-time fan. The Palladium crew loved it, so I hope he does too. It’s so nice, I’ve been told a) I need to do more artwork, and b) I need to find a use for the illustration. Funny. That’s the nice thing about the early Surprise Package orders, we can spend a little more time on them and personalize them a bit more simply because we’re not insanely swamped like we are every December. Christmas Surprise Packages are coming in strong and I have been loading them up and kicking them out. Please keep them coming. You won’t be disappointed.

Glitter Boy in Flames Poster

Available Again – Glitter Boy in Flames Poster

Thanks to a fan’s inquiry about the out-of-print Glitter Boy in Flames poster (i.e. the Rifts® Chaos Earth® RPG cover), my trying to scrounge up a poster for him, uncovered a dozen signed and numbered Glitter Boy posters (#628-640; $20 each) AND a dozen or so Glitter Boy poster “printer proofs” (if my memory serves me right, there were only 100 of these; $27 each). So for the first time in a number of years, this fan favorite limited edition poster is again available while supplies last. There may be some slight yellowing along the very edge of some posters, but it would be covered if framed. Looks great on the wall whether framed, matted or put up as is.

  • 20 inches wide by 28 inches tall, big powerful image. Printed on a 24x34 inch, quality paper stock.
  • Glitter Boy™ poster – signed and numbered – $20 (only 700 signed posters were made), Cat. No. PO800.
  • Glitter Boy™ poster – printer proof (marked P/P and signed) $27 – Cat. No. PPO800.
  • Each is signed by artist Scott Johnson and Kevin Siembieda.
  • Mailed rolled in a heavy duty mailing tube.
  • Sold on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.
  • Note: This Glitter Boy image is also available on a mouse pad ($9.95 – Cat. No. 2566).

The Rifter #78

UPDATE: The Rifter® #78 – Ships on Monday!

The Rifter® #78 is at the printer and ships on Monday. As I’ve said, this issue is packed with source material suitable for many game settings. There is the Modern Necromancer™, official source material for use in Heroes Unlimited™, Nightbane®, Ninjas & Superspies™, Chaos Earth®, Phase World®, Three Galaxies™, Dead Reign®, and other settings. The aftermath of the Legion Splicers® adventure is also outstanding and official source material with some of the most striking Chuck Walton II artwork for it to date. Ian Herbert’s Palladium Fantasy® source material for the City of Khemennu™ wraps up this issue with more information and adventure ideas, and Carl Gleba’s Rifts® Nexus Zone presents new information, powers and adventures.

UPDATE: The Rifter® #79 – Ships End of November

The Rifter® #79 is looking pretty sweet. I think Alex has edited most of the selected articles and I’m in the process of assigning artwork.

UPDATE: Rifts® Sovietski – Ships November or December

Rifts® Sovietski is an even more fun and cool book than I had remembered. You are going to enjoy it a lot. And remember, thanks to the Rifts, Sovietski combat vehicles, weapons, cyborgs and characters can appear anywhere on Rifts® Earth, and beyond. I have been approving some impressive artwork all week.

UPDATE: Rifts® Bestiary Volume One and Volume Two – New

I hope people are excited about the Rifts® Bestiary. This is a long overdue resource that should be very handy, as well as being fun and fairly easy to put together. The focus of the first two Rifts® Bestiaries are monsters and notable animals of Rifts North America, with the focus on creatures that are (mostly M.D.C.) animals and monsters, including intelligent creatures that resemble animals or are bestial/monstrous in nature. Each “beast” will be illustrated and accompanied by a map showing where it is most commonly found in North America.

The creatures in the first two volumes have been collected and their stats are being updated even as you read this. Both volumes are being created at the same time and a dozen or so new creatures will be found in each volume. Shooting to have Volume One out by December (tentative) and Volume Two out a month after it. See the description elsewhere in this Update.

If these two books are successful, they’ll be followed by a book on Ghosts/Entities, Spirits and other strange beings, a book of dragons (mostly new material; tentative), and Bestiary Volumes for creatures in other parts of the world.

UPDATE: Rifts® The Disavowed

I did a little work on this book over the weekend and it is likely the next book I dive into.

One game system – every genre – countless worlds – endless adventure

Another busy and eventful week. I’m working on Rifts® Sovietski™ and orchestrating a number of other projects, but Rifts® Sovietski™ is my primary focus at the moment. Meanwhile, Wayne and Alex have been preparing and posting new PDF books on DriveThruRPG, with Alex continuing to scan and clean from the original paste-up pages for the best possible quality. The Rifter® #78 went to the printer last week, and I approved the digital proof earlier this week. Wayne is just about done selcting articles for The Rifter® #79, and Alex has already begun editing them. When not pounding away on new books, we have been busy processing orders of all kinds as well as pulling and signing books for Christmas Surprise Packages. Likewise, you may order your 2018 Palladium Open House (POH) admissions tickets (and reserve hotel rooms) now. In fact, we highly recommend you reserve your tickets and rooms sooner rather than later, in case we sell out. We can only accommodate around 250-300 POH attendees. Glad to see the excitement for current and coming titles, the POH and Grab Bags. Please keep the enthusiasm high and the orders coming.

The Rifter #78

UPDATE: The Rifter® #78 – Ships next week

The Rifter® #78 is at the printer. I approved the proof and we are on schedule to ship sometime next week. This issue is jam-packed with outstanding source material suitable for many game settings. Ian Herbert’s Palladium Fantasy® source material for the City of Khemennu™ wraps up this issue with adventure ideas and Carl Gleba’s Rifts® Nexus Zone with new information, powers and adventures. We ran out of space, so Julius’ gaming tips have been bumped to The Rifter® #79 along with my Beyond the Supernatural™ creature.

UPDATE: The Rifter® #79 – Ships End of November

The Rifter® #79 is already in production and will feature source material for Rifts®, Beyond the Supernatural™, Heroes Unlimited™, gaming tips from Julius Rosenstein, and more. I expect to be assigning artwork for it this weekend.

Working on Sovietski now. The cover and much of the artwork is done. Looking good.

UPDATE: Rifts® Bestiary Volume One and Volume Two – New

The focus of the first two Rifts® Bestiaries are monsters and notable animals of Rifts North America, with the focus on creatures that are (mostly M.D.C.) animals and monsters, including intelligent creatures that resemble animals or are bestial/monstrous in nature. UPDATE: Rifts® Disavowed

Did a little work on it this week as it is coming along as well. I will be assigning artwork for it soon.

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – Oct. 20, 2017

One game system – every genre – countless worlds – endless adventure

This has been a fun, busy and productive week. The Rifter® #78 has been sent to the printer, and I have started my work on Rifts® Sovietski. Other than that, we have been pulling and signing stacks of books for Christmas Surprise Packages. The initial response to the offer has been fast and strong. It’s nice to see so many people excited about it and ordering their Surprise Package right away. Among them are gamers living outside the USA who are wisely purchasing the Grab Bags to circumvent the high cost of shipping, as well as a number of new people. I always suggest people who have never gotten a Surprise Package to order one early, because often that person is so pleased with what he gets, he’ll want to get another one or two before Christmas. We’ve already had one individual do just that, and he only received his first Surprise Package mid-week! Processing Surprise Packages is always a pleasure for us, because we love putting smiles on the faces of so many people around the world.

UPDATE: Christmas Surprise Packages now shipping

People are jumping on ordering their Surprise Packages this year. Awesome, we’ll process and ship them out as fast as we can, so keep them coming and beat the holiday rush.

If we can help in a small way, please let us. This year the United States and many of our neighbors have experienced unprecedented disaster and loss. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fire, and earthquakes have unleashed devastation upon millions of people. Many of these catastrophic events are recent, so for a lot of you who may have suffered through them firsthand, you are probably still dealing with more immediate and important matters of recovery than worrying about replacing game books. But if you are in that mindset, or to those of you who have gaming friends or family who have lost their beloved game books through such tragedy, please let me know in the comment section when you order a Christmas Surprise Package, include a big Wish List of old book titles lost, and I will try to load up that Surprise Package. And as always, we are happy to sign books or personalize them to a specific person (just be clear on who that person is). I know it’s not much, but it is something. All of us at Palladium are glad to help you find a little joy as you try to rebuild and find your way back to normalcy. I’m pleased to remind people that the Christmas Surprise Packages are not just for Christmas. They are a fantastic way to replace parts of that damaged or destroyed collection and on the cheap. We are happy to bring a little gaming sunshine back in someone’s life. To those of you who have endured such emotional loss and continuing travails, please stay positive and hopeful, and know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are a community. You are part of the Palladium family, so I’m happy to help in this smallest of ways if I can.

On a different front, please make sure Rifts® for Savage Worlds players know about the Christmas Surprise Package offer. Many of these gamers are new to the Rifts® world setting and don’t know about all the World Books and source material available for Rifts®. And they certainly don’t know anything about the Surprise Package offer. Please let your Savage Worlds Rifts® friends know about the Grab Bags so they can expand their knowledge and gaming experience across the Megaverse.

As always, the Surprise Package offer is an excellent way to introduce any gamer to the Palladium Megaverse®, replace battle worn books, try new worlds and build upon your collection. For the price of what most core rule books cost, you can get one Surprise Package ($45 plus shipping and handling) with 3-6 different sourcebooks (depending on the value of each book). It’s impossible to beat that kind of deal. And if you want autographs, we’ll sign each book.

What is a Palladium Christmas Surprise Package? $90-$100 worth of Palladium Books products for only $45 plus shipping and handling.
